This Month's Kicker
Was one of them blisterin' hot summer days, where the air's so thick it feels like a bear hug from a sweaty uncle, and the pavement's shimmerin' like a mirage. I couldn't stand the thought of sittin' at home fryin' in that heat, so I figured I'd head on over to the casino for a spell. Soon as I stepped inside, that cold air hit me like a blessing straight from heaven. I plopped down at a video poker machine, mostly just to kill some time. But dang if I didn't hit not one, but two royal flushes! With my pockets full of winnings, I knew exactly what I was gonna do. I high-tailed it over to the home improvement store and got me a whole-house air conditioning system. No more sweatin' through them dog days of summer for this guy! While they were installin' it, I kicked back with a cold drink and a big ol' grin, thinkin' about how life sure has a funny way of throwin' you a bone when you least expect it. That casino trip not only saved me from the heat but brought a heap of unexpected joy and comfort into my life. |
