I was in my favorite local tavern watching playoff football between hands last weekend. I’d been playing for a couple of hours and digging myself an unhappy “hole” as my machine mercilessly and cruelly kept dealing me three Aces and three 2’s, 3’s and 4’s but never finishing the hand off. I can’t tell you how many full houses I got with ironically 2 kickers. “Tease!!” I kept calling it.

My frustration kept increasing as I irrationally kept telling myself “It only takes one hand” and “This thing is overdue!” At the beginning of the second half of the Chiefs v. Bills game this hand popped up. My heart skipped a beat as I did a doubletake… I immediately remembered this one button that occasionally wouldn’t hold, dropping a card I wanted to keep. I carefully pressed hold on all the buttons and looked closely to ensure they were all saved. Boom! I hit the “draw” button. $12,000.00 minus what I’d spent to get here and a net positive for the weekend. These don’t happen often and I enjoyed staring at it intently awaiting my being paid.
