That seems pessimistic. In Vegas with a little effort you can find 95% games. I don't know about the tighter markets, but I would think 90% should be available almost anywhere.
Agreed. I ought to have done a little more research before popping off.

No problem. Info is not easy to find. There's no vpfree2 equivalent for keno inventories, and most keno players are not very attentive to pay schedules. Although I suppose that's true of vp players also.

Incidentally, there was a keno advantage play last year in Vegas. The Bighorn and Longhorn casinos had a promo paying double jackpots (in free play, up to 1k) for various outcomes including a vp royal flush or a $500 keno hit.

This was +EV for some of the vp games, but it was very, very +EV playing optimally at keno games with big enough bets available. The Wizard did a recap of it. Management canceled the promo on the first day within a few hours.

Nowhere in the above diatribe do you mention that the long term return of most of the best keno games is in the 85% range. If you're happy losing that percentage of coin-in - go for it!
That's wrong, at least in my market. If you're playing gimmick crap keno like cleopatra or caveman on a bartop, it can get that bad easily.

If you play general keno, it's actually more in the 5 to 10% range, even in my market. Nickels even return 92% much of the time. And you expose only 10-15% of what you would in video poker for the same jackpots with similar odds, hence making it better than video poker in many cases. A 60 cent 92% 7 spot is much less theoretical loss than 8/5 JOB or DDB everyone loves to bang out at 5 dollars a hand these days.

It must be amazing to live in Vegas. I can't even imagine having all those casinos within a few miles radius.

It's good to have choices, although Vegas has a lot of smart players. The double jackpot promo burned out within six hours. In a smaller market, you could potentially find a similar promo without anyone else exploiting it. Then you would have the decision of whether to milk it slowly, or pillage.

More generally, Vegas tightened up on promos after the COVID lockdowns. But if you just enjoy playing, there are many vp opportunities where the slot club points push the game a little above 100%, and you can often receive additional comps such as all the free food you can eat.

I have several patterns, most of them tightly bunched. I play them according to the areas that tend to being hitting most often.
