Gonna try for first time in real casino. Are the machines really random like the Powerball numbers or predetermined like slots?

The machines have a built in edge, if that's what you mean.

The machines are random. Look at the pay tables to find the best ones.

Start with lower denominations until you get used to your surroundings. Best to make beginner mistakes for low stakes.
