Yeah, I'm aware how VLT's work and that class 3 vp should be better due to true pay schedules. Results are completely random though and despite the math telling us we "should" see a certain outcome over the long term each hand starts out with the same odds of getting any given hand. The draw is where we have the advantage but again each draw has the same odds as the last time we were dealt an identical hand. This means the whole RNG thing could very well spit out complete duds every hand we ever play if we were so unfortunate. Not likely, but possible, no?
Now think about this though, I'm gonna get slammed for this one. VLT's are a predetermined outcome. They have a definite amount of winning and losing hands/spins. Have you ever been playing a terrible session of vp and said to yourself, "Come on, there's gotta be a good one in here somewhere." Well, in VLT machines there are good ones for sure. There has to be. If only we could know the amount of "tickets in the roll" there were. The Lottery posts odds for each prize for each scratch off game they have. They also post how many top prizes are left to be won in each run of a game and how many have been won. They stop selling game tickets when there are no longer any top prizes left to be won. I would imagine VLT's are treated the same since they are essentially electronic scratch offs. The games must be reset with a fresh amount of "tickets".
They do not give us this information though. Bummer. There of course is still randomness in picking the tickets out of the hat though. Now if a Vlt pays back 91% it is predetermined where as a class III game may have the probable outcome of returning 98+% but it is not guaranteed. It just needs to average a return % within gaming authority regulations for slots. Sometimes less than 90% I believe.
I personally definitely prefer to play true class III machines myself for the obvious reasons. But for the longest time we didn't have them here close by and VLT's were it without taking a long trip. My results often times were better or close to the same playing the VLT's than class III.
One more thing is VLT's earn the same comps/points no matter what you play and you can use free play on anything.
I also figured since many have said they dabble in the slots this might be interesting info for them when I started the post.

My apologies in advance if I did not articulate my thoughts very well.

A class 2 video poker machine is a slot machine, for all practical purposes. Your hand is predetermined as soon as you hit the button. It's also my understanding that the payout of any individual machine isn't guareenteed at all. The average for the casino may be 91% but any one machine can pay out way less than that.

to test for a vlt do as follows,on the machine you r testing play the lowest denom because if is not a true rng u will be throwing a small amount of money away.keep playing until u r dealt a winning hand like kings at a job game. then throw all 5 cards away.which includes your kings! if it is a vlt u will receive your winning hand back.not the same exact cards but another winning hand of at least the same pay.at montecello which is a vlt joint,i once had 4 of a kind dealt to me and said to the player next to me.look it dealt me 4 of a kind!!I am going to throw the 4 of a kind away!!he thought I was nuts so away went the four nines and back came four sevens.he was shocked!!

I did The same thing one time with 4 Aces At Monticello years ago to show someone. Got another 4oak with a match card bonus to equal the aces pay.

Bill, Thanks for the input. I hear what your sayin'. That's why I think it would be nice if NYS Lottery offered the same info/odds for each VLT game like they do for the Scratch off's.

Hello there,
Resorts World Catskills will most likely have 550 less space machines and Tioga Downs in the Southern Tier can take out 50 opening machines under an understanding achieved Monday with the state.

The state Gaming Commission endorsed the solicitation by the two upstate gambling clubs that have attempted to meet income projections in their first years in task.

The commission said it found that by enabling the gambling clubs to evacuate some space machines, it would give the gambling clubs "a chance to maximize the proficiency of benefit use and supporter opportunity without negative consequences for the benefactor experience, office business or state income."
