Will be off to Laughlin on a Harrah's junket from Florida. Damn that's gonna be a long flight without 1st class!

Plan on at least one day at Harrah's to keep the comps up. Then to the Trop and Belle. We like the multiple Royal machines at the Trop. And last time there, we won at the Belle.

Any tips or suggestions, bring em on!

I have wintered across the river in Bullhead City many winters (except this year). The Belle and Edgewater are now the same group as the Aquarius. Not sure if this is good or bad but Aquarius at least has some full pay video poker. The Trop is one casino I never play at as the video poker pay tables are bad. Really Laughlin VP is not what it used to be.

However it is laid back and lots of casinos to choose from and many places to eat. I actually like the In-N-Out burger beside the Trop. The most unique place is the River Lodge. It has great chairs to play and get comfy. Food is real cheap as well. If you order say a coke they bring you a can and not that fountain stuff. You can also play VP in one area that has huge windows overlooking the river. Not great pay tables but a relaxing joint that both my wife and I enjoy.

Bubba Gumps at the Nugget is good for a meal. I also like the Bumbleberry Flats restaurant in the Pioneer for a good Breakfast.

We arrived at Harrah's Laughlin just yesterday, and will be here until Monday. We are on the third leg of a five leg fifteen day Nevada vp odyssey. If you have any specific questions about Harrahs or Aquarius I can try to answer them.

As a general comment, I would note that the invasion of vp areas at Harrahs by huge, gaudy, loud slot machines continues, so the vp inventory is dwindling. At this rate, there will be no vp left in a couple of more years.

There is a Willie Nelson concert here tonight, so the place is jam packed.

Yea...those big loud colorful slots are taking over aren't they.... I think VP at the bars will be around forever.

Short story...we drove down to Laughlin from Vegas one year and stopped at this little casino in Searchlight. I immediately noticed the DDBP .25 paid $1500 (non-progressive) for full play Royal! Unheard of. Stuck a $20 in and hit the dang thing a few plays later! Couldn't believe it. Collected and got the heck out of there.

The only tip I could give anyone about Laughlin is don't stay at the Riverside unless you like rolling the dice on coming home with you clothes full of bedbugs. However, things are pretty laid back in the small coin casino on the parking garage side of the Riverside, and I did win both times I played at Aquarius...after a year and a half in Laughlin/Bullhead, though, I was ready to come back to California.

Also, those signs on the parking garages that say something to the effect of "Do't Leave Personal Items In Car"? This is not so much to protect yourself from smash & grab tweakers (although there are plenty of those), but to keep from coming back to your car and finding your personal items melted into the seat, trunk, or carpet.

We hit Laughlin at least once a year. Used to do the Riverside, very old school and you can run across Don Laughlin late at night. But, then they got rid of all the spin poker and then all the poker machines got scarce. We now enjoy the Aquarius and the views of the river, the eating places and the selection of poker machines. Must confess, we always walk over and eat at Cafe Serrano at the Riverside when we are there.
Totally different vibe in Laughlin. We enjoy it, but do end up in Vegas several times a year.

Well, back from our Harrahs junket to Laughlin. The flight was on a 737-800 with 3 and 3 seating. All coach. We normally fly first class when we pay. I'm a bigger guy so it was not very comfortable. And the flight was 4.5 hrs from Sanford, Florida to Bullhead. First off, Harrah's facility. Pretty nasty. Carpets were filthy. Rooms were half-assed cleaned. You can see the dust on the bed lamps. The air conditioner was not that great. Hot water in the tub took a few minutes to arrive at the faucet. Over all.....a grade of "F" on the room. But at least no bed bugs. And the weather was very unseasonable. It was 62 Thursday morning and rainy. been cool the whole time there. It should have been in the 90's!

Gambling? Kinda sucked too. We spent many hours....don't really want to admit how many, on two
machines in the row of .25 DDBP Progressives, located near Starbucks, in a hallway type area where our backs were to the river. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. We occasionally would hit a 4oak with and without kicker to keep up from going broke.

It was the last full day of playing when I finally hit the Royal for $1350.00. That gave us back about half of our loses. So I call it somewhat of a victory.

On a side note, one night there was this very annoying foreigner guy who treating the buttons like his enemy. He'd smack the play button very hard. Then he would go through a bunch of hand and arm movements towards the screen before he drew. He would jump around from machine to machine, and when he sat next to me, I would cringe. He claimed he was retired from some embassy. I think he was Russian. Anyway, once time he sat next to me he performed his shennanigans and I'll be damned if he didn't hit 2's w/k, 4's, and 3's w/k in the period of 10 minutes! He left the area after cashing out for nearly $800.

We did try our luck at the Trop on their multi Royal machines but didn't have any. (We once hit 3 royals on those machines at one session)

Anyway....that was pretty much our trip. This was our 2nd time taking one of these. The other was
out of Tucson, so the plane ride wasn't too bad then. But we decided we won't ever do this again.
In fact, we may never go back to Laughlin unless we drive it from Vegas....planning an October trip.

Thanks for the report. I fly a lot and most of my flights are 4 hours or a bit longer and I am so ready to get off the plane. They just don't include comfort when they build those planes.

Glad Allegiant got you there and back safely. Never know with them!

Hope your Vegas trip offers better play!

Well. that answers the question that crosses my mind whenever we drive through there - i.e., Does anybody ever stop here?
