Gulf Coast Report for Summer 2019

Post by rangerZ »

For those visiting Biloxi, some quick tips for VP play.
  • Pay tables are generally correct at VPFree if you're looking for a specific game or are trying to make your casino hopping plan
  • Silver Slipper has 9/6 at a $1 and lots of machines, low point requirements for food comps, especially weekdays. They also have NSUD Dueces at $1
  • Treasure Bay has 8/5 BP (99.16%) on almost all single hand machines at $0.50 and higher - only three UltX machines in the house though and another 6 or so multi-game machines. Fairly aggressive on mailers with slot play
  • Palace has some good games, including newer multi-machines and is smoke free. We've found their offers thus far to be below average vs the others
  • Island View has a good selection - including UltX on bartops in the smoke free 'beech casino' section. IV has been very aggressive with mailer offers on slot play
  • At the Beau Rivage, they have newer/nicer VP machines in the High Limit room at essentially the same demons as the old machines on the floor
  • Golden nugget only has a few machines over 99% (8/5 BP on 2 bartops - happy hunting :) ) - at least for under $5. We love staying at the Nugget and they've been above average with free room offers for table and slot play but just not our go-to for video poker
  • Harrahs New Orleans has a larger variety, average pay tables, but plenty of Quick Quads as well as newer multi-hand variants

I have played all over the Mississippi coast. In fact, before Katrina, we owned a small property down there in Hancock County. My experience in recent years has been that Silver Slipper is pretty good at the $1 level. Caution --- some of the paytables drop if you try to go up to $5. IP has a few good machines but you have to look hard. I simply refuse to play at the Beau, as nice as it is, because their paytables are so greedy. I second the OP's advice to follow VP Free before making a casino decision on the coast.

I would be interested in hearing a recent report on the new casino just north of IP off of I-110, right outside of Biloxi. Can't recall the name. Are their paytables and games decent at $1 and $5, anyone know?

Your asking about the Scarlet Pearl. I'll use your question as an excuse to recheck their machines this weekend while we're in Biloxi :) Scarlet Pearl's machines are all new/shiny but pay tables were pretty Biloxi average if I recall. They did have plenty of UtlX and multi-hand games.

The property is also very well lit inside compared to most of the others which is a refreshing change.

Their new player program isn't great, haven't given them enough action to evaluate comps and offers yet.
