Mrs. Minn. and I are planning a trip to Hannibal and St. Louis. Anyone know about any of the casinos in that area? There's a "Mark Twain" Terribles just N. of Hannibal and several in STL I think.

If you Google "St Louis casinos" it'll show you a list of them and a handy little map, too. Then click on the various links there for more information.

In Minnesota, the Mille Lacs and Mdewekanton Shakopee bands in particular have been farily active in using proceeds from the "golden buffalo" to buy back land. This has caused some conflict with neighboring jurisdictions as the land then comes off the local tax rolls. But my observation has been that, especially on the out-of-the-way reservations, a good portion of that gets recycled through the Indian casinos.
That being said, I'd have to think that most bands do a fairly good job putting casino funds to good use. I'd sure hope that the recent kerfuffle with the Mille Lacs CEO's ouster tied to misuse of tribal funds is the exception that tests the rule.
But actually, what I was looking for was info on VP at Missouri casinos, which I don't believe are all tribal. What kinds of games might I expect if we decide to spend some time in one of them?
Thanks, all, for responding.

In the St. Louis area you have Harrah's, Ameristar, Lumiere Place and the President. Right across the river is the Casino Queen. I live in St. Louis, if you have any specific questions drop me a line. I've played at all of them, but my favorite is Harrah's. Lumiere is in Downtown St. Louis and has only been open a year.Effective Nov 8, we no longer have a loss limit. Up till Saturday we could only play $500 every two hours. Missouri was the only state with this stupid loss limit.Joyce

Thanks, dwcherry; according to the site shadowman provided Harrah's is the only one of the St. Louis area properties offering full-pay BP for quarters, which is what we mostly play. $500 in two hours would be a lot of variance for us. It's also where the third-place finisher at this year's World Series of Poker main event won his entry . . .
