Anyone buying shares at these low prices?  If so, what your top choices and why?
I've traded in and out of Ameristar 4 times over the past 3 months making about $1000 each time. They're doing good biz here locally.  Reporting Earnings this week (Tues, 2-10 I think) and sold my shares today in case it's bad news.  I like they have less debt than their peers.

Pinnacle seems to be doing real good locally as well on weekends.

How are they doing for biz in your local markets?  Not looking at any vegas strip casinos or station, but there's got to be some strong pockets.

How about the equipment makers.  IGT is dirt cheap here, WMS and Ballys have past them but all are low. Not seeing any casinos adding new VP machines and WMS seems to be the one producing all the top slot draws, but most casinos already have bought a lot of WMS games already.

LOL I know it's risky now to invest in them, but probably less downside than playing at them

I would look more at their bonds if available as an investor.
Trading as you are doing probably I would keep an eye on several and watch which behave like ameristar.
Good luck.

What the hell is interst free bond? Do you mean tax exempt? If so that would depend on ones tax bracket as well as other personal financial situation.

All I've seen on bonds are for the biggest - MGM - and they have too much debt for my liking.
ASCA has been good traidng if buying in the 7-8 range. I can never win there but have made back my losses on trading their stock

Looking for more options than them that may have a little more kick on rallies.  Seeing anything in your corners that  is doing good biz?

Thanks for the feedback!

If so that would depend on ones tax bracket as well as other personal financial situation. He might mean Zero Coupon Bonds, which do exist, with repayment of face value at maturity.  Of course, the yield on these is above zero because the purchase price is below the face value.Or he might be employing several dozen chimpanzees who randomly type letters until they form some words.  I see the chimp who normally types the comma with no spaces on either side must have been on a coffee break.

As an industry, the casino business is struggling with huge debt loads because of the extensive expansion and, in some cases, the buyouts and consolidations that have occurred. With the downturn in the economy, I think many of the casino stocks will continue to do poorly short-run. Some companies, even big companies, may get shaken out when they can't refinance their debt.

However, I think history shows that every downturn ends, and if someone can pick the winners in the group and hold on for long enough, there is probably money to be made.

I wish my crystal ball (which has almost always been broken) would tell who those winners will be!

I've made my bet on Boyd Gaming.
