We are considering taking a few days to fly up to Reno (in the fall) to Peppermill Reno. Anyone give us the update on the casino? VPfree2 shows some great VP.
Any other recommendations for Reno? Video poker? and Staying? It has been 15 years since we were last there!

If you're going to the Peppermill you should also check out the Atlantis. They are fairly close to each other and the Allantis usually has some good games. Of course, I haven't been there in 10 years so my info probably isn't much better than yours.

LL, We stayed twice at Harrah's on comps. I had luck playing VP at Siena and El Dorado playing $ DDB and DW on both trips. I used computers at a public library that is within blocks of the casinos. The library probably opens at 11:00 AM. Check out the phone book in your room for address. Nothing good happened at Atlantis or Peppermill but admit we were not at either location very long. Others on forum have enjoyed Atlantis for VP. where they have stayed. We had a rental car. Log on to Reno casino map. Check on bus routes if you need them for traveling S. Virginia Street from main cluster of casinos to Peppermill and Atlantis, a few miles away. Otherwise, you would not necessarily need a car there. There is a very nice restaurant at the back of Siena on the Truckee River and Harrah's buffet was fine/typical. The Grand Sierra is a large casino, rather isolated, location wise.We enjoyed a Rail Road Museum tour at Carson City en route to beautiful Lake Tahoe and casinos. GL and report back to us.

shadowman & marie,
Thanks for your input. I'll check out VPfree2 for the other casinos and trip advisor too but love the feedback from actual VP players.

Check out the Silver Legacy while you are in Reno. They have high payout machines posted. Have fun and good luck!

Charby,
Thanks for the head's up. We'll give it a try. I'll check VPfree to see what they have. It has been so long since we were there we aren't familiar with anything there.

The Silver legacy is where I stayed most often. No doubt it's completely different now. Maybe I'll make it out there again one of these days. I couldn't make it for the Nationals this year, maybe in 3 years ...

I've stayed at both El Dorado and Silver Legacy and they are comparable, but I felt that I did better in VP at the Silver Legacy. They are both on Reno's small strip. Have also been to the Atlantis. It is nice but like the Peppermill is rather isolated.

For the money, I would stay at J.A Nugget in Sparks..Ok..I was a slot manager in Sparks but Peppermill and Atlantis are really in a bad part of town and are tacky. Atlantis over the Peppermill..I worked for both outfits. Nugget is great but don't play the slots. Head down the street to a small place called the "Western Village" if you like video poker. Them and a number of small places called "Dotty's" have the highest paytables in town. I know, I keychipped them. High limit too. Up to a 100 a hand on video poker. popular 92 ab on 5 cent keno as well. Remember ..play optimumGood luck.
