Venetian Comps

Post by BillyJoe »

For those folks that are upset with the new comp system,   I saw this...

Las Vegas Sands made cuts to its comps program as a way to boost its bottom line. However, some irate customers have aired their complaints by creating a Facebook page. "Gaming customers won't stand for it -- they'll go elsewhere," said Anthony Curtis, publisher of the Las Vegas Advisor newsletter. Las Vegas Sun

It would appear that Sands Corp does not want any small players. That's OK it is nearly as much fun as other places in Vegas.

It is really bad for those folks that invested time and money to get some status at their casinos.

I was a mid-tier gold grazie member.  Sheldon Anderson (CEO) decided that Las Vegas is back and doesn't need small to mid players so dropped them.  Comped rooms, food, slot credits, shopping credits, theater tickets etc. were to be sold, not given away.  Fine, last year I ticketed in 6 figures and that isn't good enough.  My money spends elsewhere and will.  They did send me an email for comped Phantom tickets and discounted room rates.  Forget it Sheldon, you have to do a lot better than that.  They asked for my contined loyalty and looked forward to my stay.  Fat chance.

The Trump Taj- Mahal has raised the standards for comp rooms, food, show tickets, and access to their players lounge`s over the past 7 years. They have lost a lot of good players. I remember 7 years ago they raised the criteria for the players lounge`s. This eliminated 2000 people out of the Bengal lounge ( 1 of the 3 player`s lounge the Taj had at that time ) This killed the Taj`s business during the week. This Corp. policy caused them to lose their Senior citizen business during the week. All those peoplep who came in on the busses to gamble and have a lunch moved to other casino`s. I was on vacation at that time and I walk into the Bengal Club for dinner and the room was empty. As I walk in the waiter`s were so glad to see someone.
Sometime management dosen`t know what there doing.

It appears many of the Corp. geniuses are trying to make up for the big economic decline and raise their profit with quick profit strategies. Much like states cutting their budgets for education, health, etc. the long-term impact may come back to haunt them.

Many people are hurting economically forgoing the non-essentials and with gas prices going up less people will have the money to drive/play. Lowering pay returns, changing comps, less cash back rewards, reducing staff and supplies become short-term profit strategies. One of the tech at our fav. told me the number of "out of service" machines was growing each day due a decision to reduce parts inventory. The staffs that are working harder due to shortages and increased numbers of part timers (to keep from paying benefits) are losing their commitment and getting tired of overtime.

The end result is fewer consumers, with less discretionary money, and so businesses (casinos) are competing over fewer players and more big time players. The new GM at Isle is making some great changes - new carpet, upgrades to buffet, and creating a brand new VIP lounge and bringing in new big $ slots...why because he came from competitor Lauberge and is trying to bring over some of the whales so he has to upgrade everything...Bet our VP tables drop again...

Back in the late 90's when the Venetian was being built, my Mother lived in Vegas so I was there quite a bit. Mr. Alderson stood rock firm on breaking the culinary union from working in his casino. I believe he kept the union out of his hotel, but this just shows where his head is at. He treated his workers with utter contempt so it is no wonder he treats his customers the same way. I am not sure how he feels he can make money with no patrons, but it would be a miracle if I EVER stepped one foot in his hotel ever again.

I gave up going to the Venetian a year or so ago.  The VP went downhill. The same for Sands in Bethlehem. If I want to play here in Pa. I go to Mount Airy.

Was a fairly regular player at Mt Airy.Last trip was on 2/25for a gift pickup.Needless to say about 60% of vp machines taken out since casino opened. I play mostly 25c., not too many single play machines left. Will be playing at the Borgata from now on. Was diamond at Harrahs, chose not to make the tier as comps cut. Got upgraded to Black at Borgata for 1 year. Played there twice since nov. hit 3 J.Ps. More than I hit in Harrahs or Pa. casinos in last 2 years. I am going to play where I think I have a chance to win.

$225 in Slot Credits or Table Match Play†
A $50 Amazon.com Gift Card‡I was a GOLD, but I didn't even think that my card was still valid.
