harrah's st. louis is done for me

Post by cook1947 »

Just returned from a supposed 3 day trip to Harrah's St. Louis. I will NEVER go back after the inexcusable treatment we received on check-in. We tried to check in on Monday at 4:25, but was told the room we were "assigned" (2 beds, non-smoking) was not available. I am wearing a knee brace from my shin to my hip from an incident a month ago, and in quite a bit of discomfort. We sat in the lobby for 2 HOURS while couple after couple were checked in and given rooms. At 6:00, we went to the desk to try and check-in and told, No rooms yet, while the check-in procedure went merrily on. 25 after 6, they finally called us up without so much as an "we are sorry for the delay", or can we offer you an upgrade or a lousy dinner. I have been going there for 8 years and I have never had such shabby treatment. I am not a combative person, but after finally getting the person in charge, the explaination was still that the room we were "assigned" was not available. I was in disbelief. I did not request a specific room, just a double, non-smoking. I asked her why someone who had come in way after us were more important than we were. She seemed surpised. I said, first come with a reservation, first served, especially when they could see us sitting there for 2 hours. At that point, I told her that my 3 day visit was ending that next day, but that she didn't want to hear. "Oh, could we give you a $25 in room credit...what can we do?" Well, my trip was ruined, and my relationship with Harrah's is over. We talked to many couples who had checked in that afternoon, and the majority had the 2 bed, non, so the only thing I can see is incompetence and a staff that cannot think for themselves. From now on, I will be only utilizing non Harrah's properties. I have been a Harrah's Club member for years, mostly at Diamond level, but they can take that Diamond and stick it. I hope this does not happen to anyone else, especially where there doesn't appear to be any manager to handle the problem. Be advised, that there is apparantly only one 2 bed, non, in the ENTIRE complex. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE.

wow.  Did you tell your host what was going on?  I've never been to that casino, but have a friend who goes 2-3 times a year.  She's 7 Stars and has always been treated very well.  Should not make that much difference for Diamond level.

One can only hope it's a fluke of a mix-up and not business as usual for Harrah's properties.  It certainly has not been my experience at their other casino/hotels.

Talk first with your host, if not satisfied, keep going up the ladder.  GL with resolution.

It may have been sold to Penn Gaming but the completion of Penn National’s acquisition is expected to occur later this year. So it is still a Harrah's property.

But it may explain why the employees don't seem to give a hoot right now. Probably don't know how much longer they'll have jobs.

My  problem was only with St. Louis. It has been the last year that time after time there was a difficulty. They started with a STRICT 4pm check in, but the attitude was just bothersome.

I would have taken a 2 bed  smoking room and asked for it to freshend. Febreeze works well. Housekeeping does this. I wouldn't have just sat there and waited
