Cherokee to break ground on N.C. casino project
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for a tribal casino in Murphy, N.C. The $110 million casino will be operated by Caesars Entertainment Corp. The tribe predicts the project will create 900 jobs.

Bully for the Cherokee I guess, they sure got a raw deal historically. But an hour away from their other property? Hope they don't wind up peeing in the soup there...

Not exactly fierce competition for the existing Cherokee casino, but a choice is a choice I guess. Minn. Fatz, although 134 miles away, Harrah's Cherokee is the closest casino to me, and I make "donations" there quite often.

Sure wish we could get one on the Eastern side of the state. Any American Indian tribes listening?

For those interested, Murphy NC is just north of the Georgia-North Carolina border. Can you say 'Hello Atlanta'?

Thanks for clearing that up. However, a good chunk that the casino gains from atl, cherokee will directly lose those ppl.

Do not see your point Vman both casinos are going to be owned and operated by the same tribe.

betty, at least you have better Barbeque then we have in the far east.
Takes us 7hrs. to Cherokee, 8-9 /12 to AC so it is a toss up that AC wins with the superior perks.
