Last Word on First Off-Rez Indian Casino?

According to Duluth, Minnesota media, a federal judge upheld the National Indian Gaming Commission's rejection of the compact between the city and the Fond du Lac tribe which runs Fond-du-Luth casino. The way seems clear for the first Indian casino off reservation land to expand. Up to about 2009 the casino shared revenues with the city, but not since then.

Interesting article...a few years ago the brimley tribe in Michigan bought some land 100 miles south of the reservation and opened a casino that was shut down a few months later. I think the issue went to the supreme court and the tribes position was upheld...haven't heard much about it since but I'm curious if some of the u.p tribes of Michigan will try to open downstate casinos in the future
