By individual state law; some states cannot serve free alcohol to casino patrons, they must charge for it.

What a story. Glad I never found that place or anything similar yet. I have to say that in my one trip to Tahoe, many to A/C in the 80's and early 90's and more than I can count at the Ct. casinos, I have never had a really bad experience. A few glitches yes, but nothing that comes even close to that one.

Edited to add, I had one experience I would not like to repeat anytime soon, but even that was not that bad. My friend and employee of one of the Ct. casinos invited me to a Native American fair in one of the large conference rooms at the casino. She ( s Native American) made beautiful Native American jewelry and I figured I would go and pick out something for the Mrs. I wandered in with my goblet of Cranberry juice and ice and started looking at the different booths and for my friend. Within 5 minutes 2 Knuckle draggers in suits show up literally inches from me and promptly escort me out. I never even got to my friend's booth. They said alcohol inside the Tribal only fair was not allowed and they wanted to know nothing about the fact that I was driniing Cranberry juice only and I had been invited as a personal guest. At least they didn't boot me from the casino which I thought they might try. I ran into my friend later in the week and she apologized even though I told her none was necesary. I did end up getting two beautiful pieces custom made from her. One for Mrs. and one for mom. So reasonable, I made her take extra $ fro them which she really didn't want to do. She is from a Canadian tribe so not part of the CT Native Americans that for the most part are pretty well off financially. I still see these two Knuckle draggers in suits once in awhile and to this day they are the only two employees I never spoke to since nor do I intend to. I understand their position. They had to make a good showing for all of the tribal members that were there from all over the country, but still they really rubbed me the wrong way. Sorry about the long post, but the topic made me jog my sometimes fading memory.

Been to casinos all over the country, have never paid for parking and will not. Have never paid for a drink and will not. Of course, I do not drink alcohol while playing VP, only coffee or water. There is one casino that I have been to in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana where you have to pay for parking unless you get validated. But this is in a crowded metro area. Other than that, never. There are too many good casinos in America for someone to waste their time at a casino that does not want your business... and I am talking about those that rip you off with bad paytables, poorly maintained machines, paid parking, and charging you for a drink. The Beau Rivage in Biloxi has free drinks, free parking, well maintained machines ---- but none of this overcomes its horrible paytables so I will not play there.

Mentioning the names of the casino can lead to defamation cases, so it is good you've kept it hidden..

You don't have the foggiest idea as to what you're talking about.

I was in Vegas last month and was told by two separate employees that our large hotel on the Strip was going to paid parking. I mentioned it to the limo driver and he said most of the casinos were going to do that as well.

Yes, all MGM casinos are planning to go to paid parking. It was supposed to start in a couple of days, but it's delayed to at least May 31st I believe. Unfortunately I believe this will have a definite domino effect for the strip. CET won't want people to park in their garages and walk across the street to MGM Casinos.

Worst casino I have been to was a casino in downtown Baton Rouge, can't remember the name but it was a boat on the water. Smelled like mold, stained carpet, raggedy machines and every 15 min I had somebody asking me if they could bum a cigarette, borrow a few dollars or if I wanted to buy a $400 gold chain for $10. It was pathetic all the VP was on the bottom floor with only 1 way out up 1 set of stairs to the 2nd floor. It had to be breaking some kind of fire code, I wasn't there long. Not because I felt threatened mostly because I felt trapped in the bottom of a ship.
