Hard Rock in Tampa

We have been going there monthly. It took me well over a year to hit my first RF on .25 DDBP. Very depressing when you dump $500.00 into a machine and get squat back...which happens often.

But they are the only game in town, so they really don't give a **** about the players. They bombard your inbox with give away offers, knowing you will stay and spend much more than the give away is worth! I know, we've done it. We've beene to Biloxi a couple time and really enjoyed it. If it was closer, we'd make it our home gambling place! It's around 500 miles. Tampa Hard Rock is about 60 miles away from us. Not good!

We play VP all over the country.  Except for Vegas and a few others in the west, the two big Florida Hard Rock casinos are on par with them all.   The Tampa casino is frequented mostly by Central Florida Seniors and theme park visitors.  The quarter odds are about what you see in the Southeast, not that good.  If you move up in denomination, the odds get much better.  The Hollywood casino's odds are better.  It also has a younger and more affluent customer base.  In both casinos you need to scout out the best games as the better games are scattered around.  It's not Vegas, but they have $1 9/6 triple play JB in Hollywood.We played in Biloxi for years.   We refuse to gamble in any State that taxes hand pays.  It's hard enough to win at VP without the State taking a slice out of your winnings.  Mississippi quarter VP odds are even worse than Florida.  The Island View Casino in Gulfport used to have 9/6 quarter Jacks at the bar.  I don't know if they still do. The last time we stayed at the Beau Rivage the JB odds were 7/5 even in the high limit room.Where you hit a Royal has nothing to do with the casino.  Royals are sitting in the right seat at the right time and that's all there is to it.The comp plan at both Hard Rocks is tilted toward regulars.  It is generous, but the points expire quickly if you don't use them.  We play every week, so we like it.   If you reach Elite status you can get a free room in Hollywood most any time you want.  This is one of the nicest casino resorts in the Southeast in one of the most expensive regions of Florida.  Well worth a stay.The new non smoking casino in Tampa is great.  The worst thing about Tampa was always the smoke.   We stay in the non smoking casino now, so it's not an issue.

So after saying we would not go back, we did go back for a give away and yes, decided to play a little. Long story short, I hit a RF as well as aces with the kicker. Walked out $1100 ahead. First time walking out a winner in ages. I gotta tell ya I am very skeptical in how a VP machine operates. It almost like you can tell when the RF is going to hit. And more than once I hit royals at other casinos and sure enough, also hit the aces with kicker.   This time I was hitting the lower 4OAK quite often, like every half hour. And when I draw 3 and 3 to the royal are dealt, I suspect the royal is not far away. Sure enough. Bam. Am I just nuts or what?
