Probably because they are connected to Horse Tracks?

By using VLTs, they were able to allow 18 year olds to play, as that's the age for the lottery.
I think for them to switch, they would have to up the age to 21.
It's not just the two tracks you mentioned. Saratoga(harness track) and Bavarian Downs, at a minimum, also have them. All the racinos do.
NY Gaming is still in its infancy.

We canceled our plans for the Catskills and will spend 4 days in AC instead.   Looking forward to it.

See you have 4 nights comped at Borgata. You'll enjoy it. Let me know what dates you will be there and I'll show you where the good games are and treat you and your wife to lunch. I have plenty of unused comps.

Thanks!   As of right now our reservations at the Borgata are from Sunday April 29th until Wednesday May 2nd.  From there we are heading to the Mohegan Sun.  We would love to get together with any forum members.  Sounds great!

Hi Phil. I was just able to get a comp room for Thurs May 3 at Mohegan. If you need it let me know. I will probably be staying over wed May 2 so I will be there and able to register for the 3rd if you need it. They are still sold out for the 4th and 5th Friday and Sat. Since I have unlimited lounge access, maybe you and the Mrs. and any other forum members up there Thurs the 3rd would want to have a mini meet and greet in the lounge. I also will be able to get you guys 2 buffet vouchers as I get 2 free ones 24/7 or 3 for breakfast. Good luck in Atlantic City. I haven't been there since the Ct casinos opened mainly because I would rather fight one hour of traffic than five.

Well I gave this place a try this past weekend. Phil, I would say good choice avoiding it even if they aren't VLT's. Just another overpriced NY venue.

To start with the parking is ridiculous. A maze of odd shaped curbing and islands. Signage is terrible and you will be walking quite a distance. The closest lot is posted "Private Parking permit must be displayed" and there is a security vehicle circling the lot and checking. Private for who? How do you get these permits I wonder? Employee parking is in another lot so that's not it. Second closest lot is coned off for the Valet. The garage parking has a manned gate house so there must be a fee. I didn't try it cause I couldn't see the entrance until after I parked and was walking down the road to the casino. Right, no sidewalks and you can't even make a straight line to the entrance due to all the islands and snow piles. You actually have to walk in the wrong direction after getting out of your car just to find a cut out path through the snow to the roadway leading to the casino entrance. The valet is $6 and you will not earn free valet until you reach the TOP player card level. There are 5 levels.
On the players card. They do not match competitor card levels or offers. I was told "You must play here and earn any perks you might be offered, It is better for us and you that way." Have not figured out how there system works yet, There website is a joke and offers no information on just about anything. They will give you $5 each for phone number and email if you provide them at sign up. You can NOT use Free Play on Video Poker machines!

Ok, so you make it to the Grand Entrance. You walk in and there before you is the casino. Wow!! Lets walk straight in this wide inviting entrance. All these guys in suits must be hosts waiting to welcome you in and offer assistance. NOT!! EXIT only. You have to walk around to the left and be funneled into a single file roped entrance to be ID'd by 1 person. HMMMM, maybe all those guy's at the EXIT are goons waiting to shake me down when I try to leave and make sure my pockets/wallet are empty. Well I'm in. Scout around and find something to play the $10 FP. Pop it in a slot and 6 pulls in a row duds. Drop bet and duds 'til it's gone. Well that was an entertaining 30 seconds. OK find some VP and need a drink. Can't order from machine so have to wait for the waitress to come 'round. 2 HOURS LATER!! From what I could see there are only 2 on the floor. I asked for a Pineapple juice but she say's "I have an OJ right here couldn't you just take that? It's not much different." "Fine I say, I'm about busted and don't wanna wait anyhow." So I chugged it while I played my last 3 dud hands and busted. Headed for the door and the goons could tell, I assume by the look on my face, there was no need for a search. Good I needed a smoke and didn't wan't to be delayed. That's right, good news for most of y'all, no smoking in the casino.

Returned the next day figuring First impressions aren't always the best. I have bad luck all the time after all.
Well, everything was the same experience all over again except this time the other waitress came right over and I wound up having 3 Pineapple juices during my session. Could of had more even cause she kept checking on me. All I could figure is I was the only one tipping 'cause I doubt it was my good looks and happy demeanor.

A Bankroll busting weekend. First day started playing Dollar single line DDB. $200 straight duds. Switch to dollar TTB single line. $160, 2 Jacks or Bettor. Moved to Nickel's 10 line DblSTP DDB. Lasted 1.5 hours with $400.

Next day, $100 DDB dollars. 1 Jacks or bettor.
Back to nickel 10 line Dbl. STP $600 BR. Lasted 2 hours.
I managed dealt quad 7's once no multiplier, 2 other quads 7's and 9's but only on 1 line no multiplier, 1 Royal on 1 line no multiplier. 3 dealt straight's no multiplier. A handful of full houses 1 line each no multiplier. Multipliers were mostly all 10 duds or dealt High pairs/3 of a kinds. No dealt trips with or without multipliers turned to quads. Every 4 to a flush deal, there were many, didn't come through on any line on the draw. The high pairs kept me playing the most. Any of the bigger wins would be followed by a series of complete duds until it was gone. With the exception of the royal hit. It was still terrible after the hit but It did keep me playing for alot longer I,m sure than if I didn't get it. Nickel royals don't last long though w/o a multiplier.

Are you claiming you lost your first 40 hands in a row there? At first when you said "straight duds", I assumed that you meant mostly garbage, but an occasional high pair here or there. But then you say you only got 2 Jacks or Better on TTB in $160, making it sound like that was an improvement. Yikes! Because truly losing 40 hands in a row is enough to argue an investigation, imo.

I'm sorry your luck was so terrible.

Correct Vman96, complete losers. I know the suspicions run high of AC on here and I have had my share of terrible luck there, last week at Harrah's was a good example, but It was never that bad there. Even compared to Mount Airy where I play a lot AC has had a more "Normal" spread of ups and downs for me. Plus I get so much more from my visits there for much less play. I really need to stick to the plan FAA mentioned in the other thread. Save may BR and take it to AC.
