Don't do it Phil. The VP games are just slot machines with pre-determined outcomes, just like Resorts World NYC. If you are up in the Catskills on a nice spring day, take a walk on the old train bridge in Pougkeepsie that spans the Hudson River. It is spectactcular and free.

That is inaccurate. The one in NYC is a racino that offers video lottery terminals. RW Catskills offers legit video poker, as well as Vegas style table games in a real casino.

Carcounter, are you sure? I'm really asking? They claim to be real "Vegas Style" casino's (all the new casino's opening in NY).
You must be 21 to play where as at the Paramutuals like Resorts in NYC you can play at 18 because the games are run by the lottery. Also they have live table games. That is why they (the new casinos) had to compete for only 7 IIRC licenses to open a casino and "gambling" had to be legalized in NY before they were issued.
I hope you are mistaken but I wouldn't be surprised if the corrupt NY gov. is pulling a fast one on us.

They have a few decent games, compared to Florida, at the dollar level. Quarters are bad.

This was in a recent article by John Robison where a reader called him on some misinformation that he apparently gave in a previous article:
Question: Prior to the recent amendment to the New
York Constitution, casino gambling in New York was illegal — thus, video
lottery terminals (Class II) were utilized to get around the
prohibition. After the amendment to allow gambling in New York, the
Rivers Casino in Schenectady, and now the Montreign in the Catskill
Mountains, opened. Since gambling is now allowed there, VLTs are no
longer necessary at these casinos. So I assume that the slot are Class
III not class II as you said in your 2/21 column.

Answer: You're right. In 2013, New York's voters
approved a constitutional amendment to allow casino gambling in up to
seven casinos in the state. The Montreign casino, now known as Resorts
World Catskills, is one of the casinos not run by the New York State
Lottery. The casino has table games and should have slot machines with
internal RNGs, just like in Atlantic City down (way down) the road.
Thanks for the correction. So Carcounter, maybe your advice was correct as of your last experience, but if this article is correct, things have changed in the past few years. You can probably find this online.  I have never been to a NY casino and I hadn't looked at articles by this guy for quite a while so I can't vouch for the authenticity; although I doubt that he would have apologized to a reader if he had not researched this and found the new information to be true.

The casino just opened. He may be thinking of the racino that has been open near there for many years. That is all VLTs, or at least it was when I owned stock in it. The original ticker was NYNY.

Yeah the VP is "Vegas Style" in these newer NY resort casinos.

OK, Thanks, I stand corrected. Thought all VP in this part of New York was Video Lottery Terminals. Anyone know why only Resorts World NYC and Empire City in Yonkers have the VLT'S?
