Florida Casinos

Post by rayj »

I want to talk about the Florida Casinos...oh wait...there are none, except for the Seminole casinos!

Which brings me to the November ballot, Proposition #3! Since the Seminole Tribe had spent 10's of millions on promoting #3, I can only deduce that if #3 fails, it will affect the Seminole casinos big time in the competition arena!

So, I will vote NO on #3. We need more competition. The Tampa Hard Rock Casino is the only casino in the area. They answer to no one but themselves. Their machines suck! They treat their customers...well...like ****! Their promotions suck. In fact, as me and the wife have had an equally terrible 2018 at the Hard Rock, they have the gaul to offer me some give-aways and not the wife!

Me and the wife are weening ourselves off of the Hard Rock. We will sooner travel to Biloxi, Vegas or Laughlin then give the Seminoles more of our money! Floridians...vote NO on #3

i would also welcome increased competition in the state of florida.

took a quick look at the prop at BALLOTPEDIA. can you expand upon your reasoning, seems a yes vote was supported by DISNEY and seminole tribe and required state voter approval, to expand casinos.

likely, i do understand the prop.

As usual, the wording of these amendments makes it nearly impossible to understand which way to vote. If you want things to stay the way they are now, vote "Yes". If you would like to see more casinos in Florida, vote "No". Hopefully, this will become clearer as we get closer to the election.

Disney's objection is purely monetary. They are afraid of losing convention business to large gambling resort cities like Miami. The tribes want to maintain their monopoly. There are interests in the Bahamas that are against more Florida casinos as well. Florida has been eye balls deep in the gambling business since the lotto started. Any objections based on "moral values" are motivated by a hidden agenda.

Miami's proposed billion dollar mega casino resort that was to be built on the old Miami Herald property was too big. The tribes could use some competition, but that resort would have caused more trouble than it was worth. A scaled down version would be welcome in my opinion.

The Florida tribes have done a decent job of running their casinos. Florida is not Vegas, but it's not New Jersey either. Tampa and Hollywood are clean and well run. Both are under expansion. Their comp program is better than most and both have 99% games if you take the time to look for them. We definitely need another casino in Central Florida. My suggestion would be Daytona. The only gambling here now is a terrible casino boat with the worst odds imaginable. Disney should embrace casino gambling instead of acting like it's immoral. They're not kidding anyone with their fake goody two shoes act. Can you image the casino they could build?

What's important is that Florida NOT become the Northeast with a casino on every street corner. Too many casinos is not good for anyone.

And wouldn't you know it, the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa is undergoing a huge construction and remodeling. Here's another thing that pissed me off....they closed off the entrance to the 1st fl non-smoking area from the valet parking area. This was a very convenient walk from the valet area to the non-smoking gaming area...maybe 1 minute? But no. Now they have you going to the 2nd floor, walking through the hallway, passing more slots of course, then to the escalator or elevator down and to the non-smoking area. Who the **** thought that was a good idea to do? Of course they have never had a slot host...at least I have never been approached by one in 5 years of visiting the Hard Rock. I've had it. No more. We will take our money to Biloxi...about an 8 hr drive...or spend the money and fly to Vegas or Laughlin. If you are in Florida, vote NO on #3!

And no.....the Hard Rock comp program sucks! They try their hardest to get you there every ******* day of the week with piddly free play! If you don't use up what they give you on the day it's good for you lose it! The only think decent is their give aways, as long as you get it and leave immediately. And they target liquor as their main giveaway. They want alcoholics playing for sure. Their poker machines are tighter than the lug nuts on my car. In Arizona, we played at the Desert Diamond in Tucson a lot. Their free play comp accumulated. When we moved to Florida, I had over $500.00 that I could either play or cash in. And either me or my wife would hit a royals quite consistently. At the Hard Rock? Maybe 2 or 3 over a 5 yr. period. We are through with them.

And again, no. Their best .25 VP is 8/5 DDBP.

Not true. The best quarter VP game in Tampa is 7/5 Bonus Poker at 98.015%. You can play 98.9% deuces wild if you move up to 50 cents. At the Miami Hollywood Hard Rock you can play 98.9% deuces and 8/5 Bonus Poker in quarters. The Florida Hard Rock comp program is decent, but the points expire quickly favoring locals. If you are looking for positive VP, don't look in Florida.

A similar question was asked in Arizona, though not on a ballot. The majority of the Tribes response was that they didn't really care because they would themselves open casinos in more lucrative areas. Their reasoning was that since they already held State Approved Gaming Licenses, i.e. compacts, they would be the first in line for approval, putting them a BIG Step ahead of the competition. Either way, the Tribes would be in a Win Win situation here.

I'm sure that's true. We actually owe the tribes a debt of gratitude. Without them, there would never be real VP in Florida. They took the issue all the way to the Supreme Court and won. I wish them well. I also wish we had another casino in Central Florida even if it's one of theirs. Maybe someday?

Well. Prop #3 passed. Don't wait for any new non-Indian casinos in Florida. The Seminoles will rule for quite awhile now. That ensures me and the wife to spend our gambling time in Biloxi, Laughlin or Vegas for sure. I probably have 15 bottles of miscellaneous booz from the Hard Rock give aways that I'm sure I spent 10X their worth! Adios Hard Rock.
