Interesting article concerning VP pay tables at casinos outside Vegas (actually outside Nevada). Given my previous posts concerning smoking, this is FYI only. No surprise to those of us in AZ that Fort McDowell is #1. Given the construction of the new casino there, who knows if that will last.

Pay tables are becoming increasingly hostile for low-stakes players. The trend definitely started in LV, where casinos aren’t shy about offering the inferior pay tables shown below for a game like JOB: 9/6.

Video Poker isn’t dead. It takes a Continued good effort to find good machines. I had some ‘go to’ machines in a number of casinos in AC and in Vegas. On my way to those ‘go to’ machines, I didn’t realize that I was passing machines with great games on them. I have added them to my stable of playable machines in LV at Planet Hollywood, Paris, Bally’s, Flamingo, and in AC Harrah’s. They were right under my nose the whole time.

Could you possibly elaborate a bit? What are the games, pay tables, and denominations you are referring to?

Five Star Machines have some respectable games on them. I must have passed over them 100 times in AC and didn’t even bother with them over my many trips to LV. I have not made a trip since without playing them once I learned about them. Games on these machines include: GoodTimes Pay, Double Pay, Quick Quads, among others.

Yeah, I love playing there. It's probably going to be my primary casino. I just stick to the basic VP games. But it's a fun venue and I feel like I get good enough runs often.

I like Ameristar in Kansas City. Quarter 5 coin 9/7/5 Double Bonus 99.11% or Illinois Deuces 98.91% with a small royal progressive that usually hits before $1,200. Good by today's standard for quarters.

Carson City has a few casinos with good poker machines. Bodines and Fandango have quite a few. The Atlantis in Reno also has quite a few.
