Bonjour,  I'm thinking they might have a dress code as in no tennis shoes, jeans or tees. Almost any attire seems to be allowed in casinos in the states except masks at Halloween.  A casino in Amsterdam, a few years ago, would not allow my new tennis shoes. My black, dressy trench coat that goes to weddings and funerals would have had to be checked. It was a security/pocket policy. I had my passport and $ in pockets, instead of a purse that evening, so I walked. If you encounter a dress code, report back to us and let us know about your experiences in Montreal. Has anyone else encountered a casino dress code when traveling out of the US? There is no dress code at Holiday Inn casino in Costa Rica. We have so enjoyed travel in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec. Canada is a beautiful country!  The exchange rate is almost equal, can vary on a daily basis and is maybe a few cents in their favor. Two pieces of picture ID are required to cross at the border (driver's license and birth certificate work) or a current, signed passport.  At the moment, a passport is not required to cross the Canadian border UNLESS you are flying. If one drives over and has to fly back for some reason, there will be a problem without a passport. My recent passport renewal arrived in a few weeks as opposed to the long time back up delays we had heard about. At Windsor, it seems one can get a good exchange rate in the casinos. Sometimes the cashier offers a slightly better rate than floor machine or floor exchange personnel and other times they are equal. Ask. Bon voyage et au revoir!

When traveling in Canada or playing at their casinos, you will soon have a bunch of their currency. Unless I hit a jackpot(s), I save the Canadian currency for my next trip. Hubby usually converts his to US, assuming, erronously, he will never return and pays another conversion fee. Use the "loonies" ($1 gold colored, bronze plated, coins with loon, huard en francais, diving duck depicted) and "twonies or twoonies" sic ($2 larger bi-metallic coin with smaller different color metal center circle, depicts polar bear on one side, similar to copper center w nickel outer circle) for tips for maid or waitress. Both coins have Queen Elizabeth II depicted on the flip side. If you have multiples of $5 worth, turn them in at cashier. No one in the states wants to receive Canadian coins. I have heard tell some will use the Canadian quarters in newspaper machines or car wash in the states. You might wish to visit your ATM before entering Canada. Yes, there are ATM machines in the casinos. You will usually pay a casino fee and your own bank fee and will not be real happy when your bank statement arrives with double ATM fees.  I purchase a roll of twenty tunnel tokens at the border and save $. I also save time by tossing a token in the basket in the faster token tunnel line. Expect time consuming delays at the border returning to the US, often an hour or more. Bonne chance!

well, a really rotten trip casino-wise.  it was so bad, i only went once - first day.  dropped 300 bucks in about 3 hours and hardly had any cash outs.  nothing/nobody was hitting...so my friend and i left about 9 p.m. and never went back.  oddly, never wanted to.

i wish casinos would learn that while we don't expect to win everytime, it would be nice if our bucks were just sucked down machines without any play time.

wish i had better to report.  oh, well...

Fyi. Montreal reopens August 3, 2020.

It now has limited capacity due to COVID-19. Also you must pre-book which part of casino you intended to play in. Once inside you can no longer roam to anywhere besides your allocated section.
