South Point in Vegas

Post by looper20 »

Wife and I are heading to the South Point in June for the first time there. We have been going to Sam's Town for about 20 years but are burned out on the place. I play about 8 hrs per day video poker. Anyone been there recently and how was the VP. Thanks

Hope you get some reply's as I've never been there and want to try the place in June and would also like some input .... On our recent trip we did go to the new "M" resort which is close by and it was very nice.  Good selection on machines and good pay tables....I visit with the locals as much as possible when I play and several said they also played at South Point...so maybe that is a good sign..

SouthPoint is an overall great deal. Good food, good service, good room rates and nice rooms, many 100% plus machines there and a nice sports book if you so desire. heck, they even have a bowling center and heated horse stables out back. There's also strip shuttles if you must go there. (but why would you!)

Thanks for the inputs. Sams Town has become a pain since the merge with Coast. The place seems to be falling apart. Holes in the walls in the rooms, machines with all kinds of problems, bill acceptors not working, monitors unreadable, buttons and touch screens not working, etc. It says something when you would rather pay to stay somewhere else rather than dealing with the hassles and stay for free. The still have a great inventory of machines but getting them to work is another story. I stayed at GVR last week on a 3 day comp but didn't like it as much as Red Rock. GVR seems a little pretensious. No 24 hr coffee shop, Fatburger is the only thing open 24 hrs. I do alot of playing between 2am and 8am when I have the best choice of machines. Then play golf during the day.

You can check your for your games and paytables here. Fairly accurate and updated fairly often too.
 http://lasvegasadvisor.com/referencegui ... opoker.cfm  or try,
http://www.vpfree2.com/casinos/by-region/las-vegas.html   Both are similar in listings and LV Advisor gets their updates through vpfree.

I usually play bonus @ .25 or .50 when I get ahead I'll play Db and DDb if I find decent paytables.

You should have no problem finding these games at SP. They are all over the casino. The best paytables for DB (10/7) and DDB (10/6) at .25 are just beyond the slot club however they are busy much of the time but since you're staying there I'm sure you will be able to manage.

Dropped by the South Point yesterday for lunch after leaving the M's Red Cup cafe because they couldn't get the order right after two tries.  South Point's cafe was GREAT! Both food and service, and a whole lot cheaper.  Typical coffee shop fare, 24 Hour Prime Rib Special $12.95,  plus Asian specialties.South Point still has that new feel to it and they truly act like they appreciate the business.  Across from the slot club is a bank of playable (for me)  slant tops MG/MD.  9/6 DDB.  Held KJ spades and drew QA10 for a Royal.  (I'll be posting some pics on VPFree" tomorrow. The streak continues.
