How's the action Downtown LV?

I go to Vegas between 5-12 times a year depending on my travel schedule.  I make it a point to stay downtown as I believe the vp action is a lot better there.  My attempts at the strip really hasn't paid out but that could just be my bias opinion.  The Fremont and Main Street is where I got most of my hits.  Anyone got any fav's?  Or can tell if they believe the action is better elsewhere?

Welcome to the forum. Our two favorites are Red Rock and the Palms. Both have 100% return VP. The rooms and layout at Red Rock are our favorite and if you haven't been there I'd recommend it. You are going way off the strip away from the other casinos but we've always came away winners at RR. If you don't have a car and fly in contact the casino and the RR shuttle will take you from/to RR from the airport. You can also take the RR shuttle to the Strip if you need to get a Strip fix.

We also stay/play at the Palms because of the VP returns. We've played there many times and been pleased with the rooms given to us both times we've stayed.

Good luck.

I Red Rock is all the rage, although I have been to Vegas 2x over a week each time and never made it out there cause it just to far from the strip.  Guess thats why the PT are better.

Red Rock is 17 miles from strip near Encore on Strip. It's a $50 cab ride one way. We caught the RR shuttle on the side of Fashion Mall nearest down town. Log on Vegas shuttles for schedules.

I always make it a point to go downtown and play at Main Street Station and Binions. I have some great comps from the downtown properties and play to visit them during my January visit.  I'll also visit Green Valley, M and Red Rock.

spx,
Next time you visit consider Marie's suggestion. You can take the RR shuttle from the Fashion Mall on the strip to RR and back. RR has set times so take note. Call RR and they can assist you with the shuttle or check the RR website.

If you stay on the Strip or Downtown it easy to take the "Deuce" from the Strip or from Downtown to the Fashion Mall for just a few bucks. We've taken the Deuce several times and it always been safe and efficient.

Good luck,

LL

I like to play the 10/7 progressives at 4 Queens(.25 and $1 DB.) They also have 50 cent DB non progressive and 9/6 Jacks in 25/50/1.)Fitzgeralds has a $1 8/5 BP bank that gets pretty high to make it a positive play(hit it for $6700.) They also have some 25 cent 10/7 DB(coin out- haven't checked it lately.) Sometimes I play the 9/5 Triple bonus plus at Fremont(coin out.) There are still many coin out 9/6 DDB machines in a few of the casinos. I dont give downtown much play anymore, they have downgraded the machines in general(TITO) and made to many moves.

I will never take the Deuce again.  It took an hour from Freemont to the Strip.  I was loosing my mind and it cost $5.  I had a buddy with me so he also paid $5.  For $10 we could have taken a cab and been there in 10 min.

As for the shuttle I did call and RR said it was reserved for Hotel guest only.  As for the cab he told me it would take about 45minutes one way and it would cost about $60 that's $120 round trip.  Just couldn't justify it.

The Red Rock shuttle gives first preference to registered hotel guests. But if there is space available after registered guests board, then casino players can board.

To anyone considering the various casinos in LV and area.....Traffic is a major consideration, and in evaluating paytables you also need to factor in the time and frustration required in traveling from one casino to another.

Is the "Deuce" some sort of public transportation (ie city bus)?
Is there any other entertainment venue out by RR? or is it just out there by itself in the "sticks"?
