We probably saw each other - I was at those 50-play machines quite a bit as well.
I can't help wondering if you are the person who was dealt a straight flush while playing beside me?

I played a ton.  I did get one royal, and ended up only losing a little. ROTF. Just count your blessings and exit casino asap with bells on! Unless you got the Royal the last five minutes of your visit, in which case I apologize.

No, that wasn't me. Next time, post on this forum BEFORE your trip and you can meet up with people.

I thought I had done that - but now realize the post was in my wife's name.

Bonnie and I attended. I'm not on a mailing list from there (hit too many royals I guess), so it was pay my own airfare. Bonnie's daughter lives 30 miles or so from Tahoe, so that was enough to bite the bullet on the airfare and attend the event. (When Bonnie is happy, my life works better). It included a couple of giveaways (450 players --- 1 entry each) yielding prizes worth $90,000 or so. That's an EV of $200 per player --- which doesn't cover the airfare --- with LOTS of variance. There was a boat trip to Emerald Bay aboard a sternwheeler paddleboat holding 300 people or so. There was free sandwich stuff (until they ran out) and free booze (they ran out of a few varieties.) For us, there was a 3-piece combo on the second level with a 20 foot square dance floor --- so that's where we camped out. I used to teach Country Western dancing (two step, waltz, cha cha, swing) and you need a lot of room for some of those. Bonnie and I have only been together 2.5 years and she's still learning, but we have fun at it.For the first 3/4 of the trip, we were the only ones on the floor. Near the end of the trip, the booze kicked in and the music became good old rock and roll, and the floor got crowded. we sit those out. Which was fine. Two hours straight of dancing was enough, plus there was a cocktail party that night where they would have music. (Not danceable music, in my opinion, but we didn't know that at the time of the boat ride.)There was a ride up the gondola --- which we enjoyed. Because of the drought, a lot of the activities at the top were closed, but still it was a lovely panorama of the lake and as much hiking around at 9500 feet elevation as we could standGambling wise, this wasn't a major part of the trip. I only had 28,000 tier credits to earn for next years Seven Stars, so I did that in two days. 5,000 tier credits in a day ($50,000 coin-in) yield you a 10,000 tier credit bonus. I played $1 five Play JoB the first day. Cleverly received a royal holding a solitary king. Then I discovered a new non-smoking bar in the buffet area that has single line games, including 9/6 JoB, in denominations up to $5. I did earn a $1250 straight flush but ended up losing about half my profits from the day before. My EV for the two plays was about -$500 (that is, almost a half percent expected loss on $100,000 coin-in), but on this particular trip I came out a couple of thousand ahead. I normally don't play games this tight, but I didn't want make another trip somewhere and Vegas Caesars properties have no video poker worth playing under the current offer structure. If we played these games all year (we don't), the expected cost of Seven Stars would be $2,500 a year. Since the benefits for Seven Stars far exceed that, in my opinion, it's a no brainer to earn the award. Now I'm done for the year playing at Caesars properties --- unless I get an offer I can't refuse. I'll still go to the Great Gift Wrapup --- which takes place 5 miles from our home --- and use the $500 annual food credit to take the helpers in my classes and their spouses out to dinner somewhere, but I don't expect to play any more there. They did allow us to bring Bonnie's daughter and her husband to the farewell brunch. (You never know until you ask. we did, nicely enough I guess, and they said yes.) You could go on either the Harrah's or Harvey's side. Harrah's was more convenient (we stayed there), but Harvey's overlooks the lake and has the better view. We chose Harvey's. Bonnie came home a few days earlier than me as I played a few places in Reno after the Seven Stars trip. (Don't ask where --- I won't tell you).

Did you consider playing the 50 line machines in Harrah's high limit room?

Bob - thanks for a great summary. I'm actually surprised that you ended up with only 150k tier credits at CET. I would of figured you would have built up a lot of points playing NSUD in New Orleans (getting whatever comps, free play and flights that comes with it), as well as any other finds you seem to track down at other locations.

I guess I'm not missing much when it comes to CET.

I do strongly agree that the perks of seven star status outweigh the expected loss playing 9/6 job.

harrahs lake tahoe still has $1 3 and 5 play 9/6 J.O.B. They had at least 3 machines in a triangular pattern near the escalator that takes you to the tunnel to Harveys. I was their about 2 weeks ago
