Bets Casino in Atlantic City

Harrahs is the best casino in Atlantic City. Lots of action. A vast array of poker machines. A nice area for couples and dancing. Great places to eat - we have tried many of them. The best feature of the casino is the domed swimming pool area, which is a nice retreat when we stay overnight. For me it is just an hour away by car. I hit a jackpot on the day that retired, which is also the reason that I retired when I did. Many good memories. Lots of young people around that make you feel young. Their enthusiasm is electric.

A jackpot certainly augments a casino's review!

the primary DOWNSIDE to HArrahs AC is simply the fact that Harrahs is part of the teetering and clueless CET "Empire" ..... The property is, in and of itself, on of AC's better casinos (but that of course is not saying much at all anymore....)     It is certainly the single BEST CET Property east of the Mississippi, and is one of the BIGGEST Video Poker Inventories in AC (maybe theeee Biggest nowadays).{<cue Commercial Music>} HArrahs certainly has the BEST food selection of the three AC properties that CET owns, but in terms of the rest of AC, places like Tropicana and Borgata totally  CRUSH HArrahs' culinary / gustatory offerings!     And Resorts AC is just behind Borgata and Tropicana (and way ahead of HArrahs)  with its ever changing/evolving/expanding food & restaurant selection coupled with several  "oldie-but goodie"  classic establishments ........  Resorts AC still boasts the single greatest/best OVERALL restaurant, along with BEST Steakhouse in all of AC, in terms of actual food Quality, taste, selection and PRICE:   GALLAGHERS!    And Resorts AC is home to Capricio, an Italian Restaurant that fanatics for any and all things related to Italian Food simply rave over....personally, I am not that big a fan of Italian food in general, but Capriccio  also boasts a Sunday Champagne Brunch feast/extravaganza that is known throughout the REGION  (not only AC & South Jersey, but the rest of New Jersey, Philadelhia, NYC and beyond!!!    Back in the glory days of the 1980s all through the early 2000s, it was not at all uncommon to see couples, as well as entire Families or groups of four & more, come to AC on Sunday Mornings from as far as several hours away to partake of the amazing Brunch, then spend the rest of the day doing any one of a combination of things that AC offered....in other words, the restaurant and its Sunday event was a draw in and of itself!){<end music>} Edited to add:    Please note the following if you are relatively "new to AC" (i.e. have only just recently begun frequenting AC's casino offering within the last 6 months .... OR..... you typically only visit AC a couple times a year or less and have NOT seen the Tropicana from the inside for a long, LONG while.....):{<Music Resumes>}"THE QUARTER" in the Tropicana is one of the more dynamic and rich culinary settings in AC;  there are many, many, MANY stores and restaurants of all types, sizes, variation and quality:Carmines (again, IF you are an Italian Food fanatic, this is a place worth trying multiple times.)   And if you are a Northern Italy-type of Italian Food addict, then a very fine, refined and pricey place called "IL Verdi" located right off the main casino (NOT in the Quarter), is right up your alley.The Palm (possibly AC's preeminent "BIG TICKET" [which includes priceiest]  restaurant, certainly one of the Best OVERALL dining options in terms of QUALITY & Taste in AC, and right up there for Best Steakhouse)Golden Dynasty (followed by  PF Changs)  represent a formidable, GENERAL  one-two punch in terms of what is called "Chinese Food", although I honestly believe that, in terms of only TASTE alone, Both the TAJ MAHAL  and  Resorts AC have a sit down Chinese restaurant that can rival this pair of establishments within Tropicana's domain:    In Resorts AC, a small unassuming Chinese Restaurant called Eastwinds has exceptionally tasty (& fresh) food to sample, while in the Taj, a classically themed chinese restaurant called DYNASTY serves up classically tasty fare!And finally, UNIQUE to the Tropicana and  to most hotel/resort casinos in the U.S.A., within "The Quarter", exists a small, Gourmet GROCERY Store/Deli/Bakery/Cafe with the appetizing name of  ..... ZEYTINIA!    You name it, ZeyTinia has it, and with very good quality & Taste!{<music fades away>}

Gastatory?

From Merriam-Websters: GUSTATORY - relating to, or associated with eating or the sense of taste.

I could not find the word gastatory, anywhere. Maybe it's a Harvard thing...

My home base, once a week!-----------------------------------------It's certainly beautiful beyond the casino. But how can you take the dark environment on the floor? It's like playing in a gloomy cave. Such a startling contrast. I must start lunching at M&S on the weekend to burn some coupons! Tx for the reminder.

I could not find the word gastatory, anywhere.------------------------------------------------------------Yes, egregious. More offensive to me, however, is the venue flub. Capriccio, please. Other than that, a nice Memory Lane summary. I've recently been in most of those places on an AC tasting promo. It extended my time in town without any additional gambling. I call that a win-win.

FAA: M & S has the best Happy Hour food in AC, the $5 burger is what legends are made of trust me, when the Diamond Lounge menu looks lame or the line is too long I always go to M & S. Great food,  16oz. draft Stella for $4.50, great service.http://menus.mccormickandschmicks.com/MSAC_happ.pdf

I had it about six months ago. A good budget belly bomb. I hate sitting on bar stools, but value often involves discomfort.
