Sweet C and I are considering a trip to the Phoenix area. Looking for the best VP in the area. Fort McDowell shows best on VPFree2 but has negative comments about smoke, old, etc.

Anybody playing in the area can you help? Play/Stay is an option. We originally looked at Wild Horse Pass for our possible Fiesta Bowl trip.

A stay at WHP puts you in the middle of all the casinos, but a car is a must. It's not smoke free but offers a non-smoking room as well as a non smoking hotel. Multi-line games are most plentiful in the Circle Bar, but suffer on the pay tables. Single line games $.25 - $5. with decent pay tables 9/5-9/6 DDB,TDB BPD,JOB, in the higher demons. Shula's Steak House and Ling and Louie's are the best places to eat.

5min drive or 30 minute walk will get you to Lone Butte, where Players Bar will offer about the same as WHP.

Ak-Chin in Maricopa, a 30 minute drive South will get you some decent play, with their typical pay tables, and a decent amount of multi line games.

Casino Arizona 20 minutes by freeway will put you in a VP waste land, as will it's sister casino, Talking Stick, 40 minutes from WHP.

The Fort, is adjacent to Fountain Hills and is a pleasant drive if you take the Beeline Highway instead of the 101 freeway. Limited multi line games, but some 10/6 DDB and 9/7 TDB, VP. Old and smokey but a GREAT Sushi Bar.

Vee Quiva is off the beaten path, will take about 40 minutes to drive from WHP. It's the smallest of the 3 Gila River Casinos. Haven't had much success there as the VP also has Keno, and the ploppers stay all day, and night. It is at the bottom of my list for a visit. Ditka's puts out a great steak and the boutique hotel is really nice.

Desert Diamond is the newest of all but only offers Class II games. It's packed day and night and probably making more money than all the rest due to the fact that it doesn't share revenue with the State.

Larry: Smoke is endemic at Valley casinos. Furthermore, from our perspective, what is offered in non-smoking areas, are inferior VP options given our VP preferences. My wife and I have essentially stopped playing VP at area casinos because of the health effects of the smoke. We haven't been to Fort McDowell for at least 6 months. At the time the had the best VP paytables. I am sure Casino Knight and others located in this area can give you a more up-to-date perspective.

Regarding Wild Horse Pass, we haven't been there for at least a year. At the time, they had a small non-smoking area with a very limited number of VP machines. The area had no physical barrier from the rest of the casino,

I don't want to discourage you from visiting as there are many worthwhile attractions here.

I apologize for overlooking you OTA. CK I was checking out flights from Chicago Midway to AZ sometime in mid-March. I was also looking at area code 702 as well though.

Sorry to say it but you'll get more bang for you buck in Vegas or Laughlin. You can also wager on March Madness there.

I know CK but it's been a long time since I made a visit to Tanque Verde Ranch.

Thanks for the input. We hope to make our run in mid-May as soon as I close out the semester so i can bucket list my first sail plane ride and our first hot air balloon ride.
