We were impressed by The M, the rooms were very nice and clean, the buffet was the best I've eaten at in Vegas and the Spa was great. There was a lot of VP but many of the machines had stiff or sticking buttons. I won the trip for The Marquee Millionaire slot tournament and although I hate slot tournaments it was well organized so didn't spend lots of time waiting around. It was a profitable trip too and I would stay there again but it's so far out and I do prefer the Strip. Have fun!

I have stayed at both South Point and Red Rock. The rooms at Red Rock are much nicer than those at South Point. Good video poker abounds at both places. Red Rock is a more upscale place but not in a pretentious way. If you end up there try Lucille's BBQ restaurant...delicious. I have always found their buffet to be tasty too.   Red Rock canyon is beautiful...take time to at least drive thru it...very scenic. South Point is comfortable and I frequently stay there at the end of my trips because of the ease of getting on I-15 to return home.

Have you looked at Green Valley Ranch? It's one of my favorite places to stay and play. Really nice hotel... love their beds... great pool and spa, and tons of video poker in the casino with most machines being 98.9--101%. South Point and M are within a few miles of GVR if you want to venture out to other places.

We have stayed at both Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. Both have excellent VP opportunities and the accommodations at Red Rock are, in our view, superior to the Venetian and other Vegas hotels where we have stayed including GVR. What wa interesting is that we had only played VP once at Red Rock for about 5 hours and received comped room offers 2 1/2 years later. That was a number of years ago. After we stayed there, we were offered comped rooms again and accepted after a hiatus of about 1 1/2 years. We played single line, 0.25 DDB the first three times we were there. My wife just got an offer of comped rooms even though it has been over a 1 1/2 years since our last visit. Since we drive to Vegas, Red Rock's location 12 miles from the strip doesn't create a problem for us but having a car is a must.

Neither of us have stayed at Southpoint but we have played there and like the casino though we prefer Red Rock.

Green Valley Ranch is also a good suggestion if you also wanted to visit SP and M. Red Rock, while a nice casino, is generally farther away from other "nice" hotel/casinos that offer good VP.

As for good paying deuces, Both Red Rock/GVR offer Full Pay Deuces (100.76%), SP offers "Not So Ugly" (99.73%), M offers "Airport" (98.91%).

If you exclusively play FPDW at Stations though, expect to be "no-mailed".

My wife and I are planning a Vegas VP trip this fall and we have a few questions.  We only play video poker and could care less about the Strip.  We want to check out Red Rock, South Point and anywhere that has good VP.   We are looking for a nice hotel to stay at while we are there.  It doesn't have to been near the strip, but it has to be newer and nicer than most.   Any input would be helpful.  Thank you!I would go with Red Rock. They have everything as far as VP goes, including the "full pay" machines. You could easily do an entire week there without venturing off to any other resort. When we lived in Calif, we would get 3 nights a month comped plus anywhere between $200 - $400 in slot play. You can catch a shuttle to RR from McCarran  https://redrock.sclv.com/Hotel/Amenitie ... edule.aspx, or If you are renting a car, it is really easy to get to RR from the airport, and to the strip hotels from RR or any of the others like SP, MM, and GVR by freeway.

Phil, we choose not only based on VP and accommodations but also based on the traffic situation. In Vegas saying someplace is 5 miles from someplace else is meaningless because of traffic. It's how many minutes (on average) someplace is from someplace else. Being able to check in and stay at one casino hotel for your entire trip has a huge built-in advantage because of traffic. Great paytables are quickly overwhelmed by traffic frustration, at least for us.

Red Rock is great, if you aren't planning on going to the strip or downtown. Otherwise, it's too remote.

Thanks for the help.   We're not into the strip vibe and definitely not into traffic and crowds.   We always rent a car and don't mind driving around as long as we're not sitting on the expressway.  If a place has good VP and nice rooms, we tend to stay in one place.

Then it might be the place for you. Rampart and Suncoast are.pretty close, as is Red Rock Canyon. Great rooms, superior buffet and steakhouse. The steakhouse used to offer an amazing happy hour.
It's only drawback is its remoteness to the strip and airport.
