I played for about an hour at MSS last Wed and hit no quads. I played there again last night for about an hour and hit 3 quads - two 5-K's and a 33332. For each one you get a scratcher which adds $1 to those quads. I was telling myself the reason for no quads or "fish" as I call them, is because they need to recover from that $1.3 million hit last Sunday There is great VP at both MSS and Cal, hidden amongst the ones that a lot of peeps would overlook like within those sequential games. onemoretry - it would be great to meet up and say hi the next time you make your way to LV!As for Bastardo - some local lucky bastid hit $13,500 on a triple play nickel progressive last week too. I thought that the powers that be reset that progressive when least suspected as it is extremely hard to hit a royal there let alone a dealt one.

I think it is a Nevada statewide progressive system maintained by IGT. They will be the ones paying out the winner, probably in a form of annual payments or a lump sum that is smaller. A small portion of each spin goes towards the jackpot, so the wheel of fortune slots carry a bigger house edge (not as big as MegaBucks).

I think MSS would get some form of commission as the casino that the progressive hit on, on top of the big house edge they have on the slot itself.

Also with that $13,500 hit, MSS can brag about their big winners now to attract players.

I believe anything over $1M is paid out over 20 years with the first 1/20 deposited to your bank acct within 24 hours. I've heard that they leave all the taxes up to you instead of them taking them out, but not 100% sure. I wouldn't mind finding out for myself though! I would also think that MSS would get a cash bonus just like a store that sells a winning lottery ticket does.

Someone should report these 5c 9/6 DDB to the vpfree2 database. That's probably the best 5c game at MSS although sister property the Cal next door has 5c NSUD, 8/5 BP and 9/7 DB. My favorite nickel VP in all of Vegas as far as single line goes. On my first $20, nada. On my second $20 I hit four 8's + a $1 scratcher, and a few hands later hit 4AWK + another $1 scratcher. Both quads off a dealt pair. My wife played $10 and hit nada. Went for a walk to the Freemont Street Zoo, then returned a couple of hours later where she played the other $10 and hit A2222 + a $1 scratcher. Very successful night! Those games over at the Cal are great games as well. We cut through there on the way to Freemont Street and back, and those machines were all occupied.

Thanks Sea Lion for confirming in more detail what I thought happens when someone wins one of those IGT progressives. Thus I did not think that big jackpot win would have any bearing with MSS/Boyd's ability to give you some scratch cards, so I took it as a joke! Hope you have better days there!

I received confirmation from vpfree about the availability and the MSS database inventory has been updated with 9/6 DDB nickels.

Thanks Alpax! My reply to Rebus was after we got home from MSS last night, so indeed we had a much better experience. In fact, quads were being hit all over the place there last night. One lady who was playing a 9/5 DDB quarter machine behind me (this is why I check every machine before I play for the pay table),  hit 4AWK probably about 2 minutes before I did on my machine. I also saw a couple who probably had over fifty $2 scratchers between them. I also used to think that on the weekends that casinos would tighten their machines up, because of the weekend traffic from California, Arizona, and Utah that comes in, but it was also 2 weekends ago when I hit my first 4AWK at MSS, rendering my conspiracy theory null and void.   Also, with RF's being next to impossible to hit on single line machines these days, I'll take an abundance of "fish" any day of the week!

At "Bastardo" today I witnessed the very first RF that I have ever seen hit there. A lady held 2 to the RF on a 7/5 DDB nickel machine and it hit. A few minutes later she hit a low quad with no kicker. Very surprised! As for me, I went through a $20 bill on a 8/5 nickel machine probably faster than if I were to have lit a $20 bill on fire and watched it burn before the flame went out. I give Bastardo no more of my money as of today. Right after that, my wife and I proceeded to go to MSS where at those coveted nickel 9/6 DDB machines I put in a $20 and quickly watched it go up to about $28. I then gave a $10 bill to my wife to play the machine next to me, and within a few minutes she hit 4AWK off of trip aces. My machine rollercoastered up and down for a few more minutes when I said that would be really cool if my machine hit one too, so both of us could get one, and a few hands later, bam! My machine hit 4AWK off a pair! And of course got the scratchers too for the extra buck.I should prolly start another thread for the awesomeness that MSS/ California Hotel & Casino are for VP!

Just to clarify, if you hit 4oak, you get a scratch card that in most cases is worth $1. How do you cash them in?

Just to clarify, if you hit 4oak, you get a scratch card that in most cases is worth $1. How do you cash them in?They have 2 different cards - one for nickels, and the other for quarters and up. When you hit a quad, hit the change button which will get a slot attendant over shortly who will ask for your players card from the machine, write the info on the back of the scratch card, hand you the scratch card and players card back, and you scratch it in front of the attendant. The nickel cards are either $1 or $5000. The quarter and up are either $2 or $5000. You take them to the cash cage within 24 hours of getting them.

There are intermediate values of the quarter scratch cards, as well. On my most recent visit, I received several $3 ones, I have seen $5 ones, and I heard from a friend of a $50 one he scored. However, I strongly suspect that about 95% of them are for $2.

If you add $2 (8 credits) to the payouts for the hands eligible for scratch cards, and analyse 8/5 bonus poker with the revised numbers, it comes out to 99.57%.
