Main Street Station/ California Hotel & Casino

Post by Sea Lion »

This thread is for the awesomeness of the MSS/ CHC in beautiful posh downtown LV!  The abundance of quads, the bonus scratcher cards you get for hitting any quad, SF, or RF at MSS, 9/6 nickel DDB, select 100% VP, the killer buffet, etc. If you are playing multiplay machines like triple play, five play, ten play, fifty play, hundred play and hit more than one "fish", you get a scratcher for all of them! It doesn't have to be the bottom row (the row the cards are initially dealt to) that only qualifies. At CHC, there are tons of old school coin 9/6 JoB, and of course the 2 uprights near hotel check in (or the very first alcove across from check in) for 9/7 DB, NSUD, and 8/5 BP. (These 2 machines say "Dueces Wild Poker" at the top of them - the machine near the rail you have to slap around a bit as the far right and sometimes the second to right buttons either stick or they don't register). On "Young At Heart" day, every  Wednesday, you can get your multipliers at both casinos (you gotta swipe at each casino), qualify for both virtual drawings, and double up on the breakfast, lunch (before 3PM), and dinner comps (before 9PM). You can use the breakfast/ lunch comp the very next day which is really cool. 50 points at each casino for the breakfast/ lunch comp, and 100 points at each casino for the dinner comp. This works great if you are with your wife/ husband or with a buddy. These are both Boyd properties, so if you have a players card from any of the other Boyd properties, they will work here too. My wife and I each hit 4AWK within minutes of each other earlier today at MSS machines right next to each other. I just hit one there last weekend, and one 2 weekends before that.  I hit 10 quads between there and CHC last Wednesday within about a couple hours play as well, and my wife hit quite a few too. If anyone visits LV, it wouldn't hurt to check out these 2 properties if you make yer way downtown. Sapphire and Emerald card  holders park for free. You can even get to the Freemont Street Zoo by exiting the southeast doors at CHC, and either walk straight down 1st street, or cut through Binion's cross-corner if you don't want to get hit up by not so fortunate peeps for money on the way there.

I did support the idea of separating the discussion of these Boyd casinos from the Fiesta Rancho (a.k.a "Bastardo") thread, but I did not catch this until now.

Thanks for providing the many good reasons why MSS and CA are among the best places to play for low rollers not only in Vegas but in the country (for outside visitors). I look forward to seeing more good times ahead!

Main Street has the 9-6 Jacks at the Boar Head bar. How many other bars offer full pay games? The micro brewery is an added bonus!

From my previous comments, it is easy to see that my overall impression of Main Street Station is quite positive.

There are a couple of negative aspects, though. It is hardly the poshest place to stay in Las Vegas, and the onsite dining options are extremely limited.

It seems like some of the 9-6 Jacks has a $3 coin in per point requirement on the casino's vpfree database, but the location you've specified does not have that footnote. Good information you've provided.

Not tons at the quarter level. But there are some in Vegas.

Here's a list of various casinos with at least 8/5 Bonus
Arizona Charlie's Decatur
D Vue Bar (5-Ks, SF, RF progressive)
El Cortez
Green Valley Ranch
Orleans
Palace Station
Plaza (also 9/6 Jacks and 9/6 Bonus Deluxe)
Rampart (also 9/6 Jacks)
Red Rock
Sams Town
Santa Fe Station
South Point (Also NSUD and 9/6 Bonus Deluxe)
Suncoast
Westgate Las Vegas

And I'm going to Tunica tomorrow where Sam's Town still has 9/6 Jacks at the bar! But jerks wised up and are excluding point multipliers from VP during their promo tomorrow. :( Still might go tomorrow for my g/f who dabbles in slots.

I've stated it many times before.....downtown Vegas is my favorite part of Vegas and is where I prefer to stay and play when in Vegas.   I agree that these two specific properties mentioned are great "values" in terms of what they offer and what they cost.

Heading to Main Street in a couple of days, free rooms, coupons for food and free play. Have hit jackpots a couple of times at the Cal also. MSS is a clean, comfortable hotel with no resort fee.
They frequently upgrade me to a suite and I play mostly nickles and quarters.
We also enjoy that these places are more grown up. No dancing girls on the Blackjack table and not a lot of young kids running through. We do Vegas several times a year and stay away from the strip most of the time now. Someone is paying for all the glitter in the new hotels.
We feel welcome at the Boyd properties in general.
