Biloxi Update?

Post by FloridaPhil »

We have heard that Biloxi has loosed their VP up a little.  We are looking for Airport Deuces in quarters which the IP has had in the past. Anything good happening there?

I just returned from my first visit to Beau Rivage and was disappointed in the paytables until we discovered the machines by the Wheel of Fortune machines which had great paytables. I'm not sure what Airport Deuces are but the regular Deuces Wild seemed to pay well too. I even got a Royal on one. I was impressed with BR but never made it to IP.

Love the video poker machines, mainly the single hand game king at Hollywood Casino on the gulf coast in Bay St.Louis. They actually give you achance to win something. Better than any place else down here and I go often.

I live in Mobile, which is about 45 minutes from Biloxi. Because of this, I sometimes head over there and play.

95% of the time, I play Video poker. There was a time when I’d foolishly played beyond my bankroll, and did surprisingly well. In the span of 1 year, I hit a $2 progressive Royal at the IP, for $11,535. I also hit a Royal at the Palace Casino Resort for $4k and another for $1k.

I’ve hit numerous quads on The Palace Casino’s $1 and $2 Aces and Faces – Aces, Faces, more than I can count without going back through my notes.

I have, of course, lost a lot, too! But, overall, for the year 2015, I was ahead by about $9k.

I put the breaks on when I did my taxes for the year of 2015, last April. I wasn’t keeping good notes. I was monitoring my trip visits, but not my overall performance. So, I quit last April, and didn’t go back until the last week of 2016. I hit a Royal on a 5 hand Ultimate X (quarters).

So – I feel qualified to answer this question about Biloxi and Video Poker

So much information guys like Bob Dancer have put out regarding “Advantage Play”.

Some folks play for fun. Others take it more seriously – but ultimately, everyone wants to come out ahead, right?

This information may help you make better decisions. Maybe not. Just trying to be helpful.

I do not evaluate Golden Nugget, as I haven’t played there yet. Not sure why.

Players Club – What do you look for in a player’s club? Me, I want the occasional room and free food. Not necessarily buffets, either. I also want free play even more than food or rooms. So – off the top – consider this:

Island View, Hard Rock, The Palace Casino Resort – You can earn free play with VP – but you can’t use Free Play for VP.

Between Boomtown, IP, Treasure Bay, Scarlet Pearl, Harrah’s - Harrah’s seems to me to give the most free play. Yet, I’ve had the worst luck there. As far as “Earning” points/free play, as of 2015, Boomtown gave the most bang for the buck. As far as earning comps – Treasure Bay has been awfully, scary generous. I went from zero comps to over $30 in comps in just a couple of hours. (playing 5 hand ultimate X, but still – a lot of comps for that brief time) The rooms are fairly decent, too.

Of all of them – in my opinion, Harrah’s has the worst food. Why? Crunchy pancakes. Understaffed. Over-worked staff. Filthy parking lot. The cigarette smoke lingers through the air – they could use better ventilation. Additionally, even if you have a comped room, they want to charge you 10 bucks a day to use the wifi. Unacceptable to me. (you can probably get that comped – but that takes away from your comp dollars. It’s just bad business from my perspective.)

I generally play Ultimate X, Aces and Faces and JoB.

For VP and the pay table – Nothing beats IP at the .25, .50, $1 and $2

For $5 – go to Hard Rock.

Of the rooms at Beau Rivage, The Palace Casino Resort, IP and Treasure Bay – I like the Beau the best. But – it takes an awful lot of play to get that room – so I haven’t stayed there since before Katrina. Take that assessment of them with a grain of salt. Their new Mlife players club — I don’t fully understand it. They talk about getting points for every dollar you spend on entertainment, etc – I’m not trying to spend money on entertainment – I want them to comp that. So, you’ll want to review their explanation of it, not mine.

Aside from the Beau, I like the room at the Palace Casino – but their internet is horrible. So, for me, Treasure Bay is good enough, and you don’t have to play much to get the room for free.

Staff – There is no staff as friendly as The Palace Casino Resort. I’ve fallen in love there at least a dozen times. Great service. Accommodating hosts – who really don’t understand Video poker at all! They even don’t like it! If you’re not a slot player, you really have to spend a lot to earn their love. The main reason I like them is they’re non-smoking.
