Ha - sort of embarrassed to be a part of the "mile high" state. Colorado is quickly turning into California but there is a movement getting started to make Colorado great again. If you drive, stay away from "aggressives" on the road - they are probably high and also carry guns. (nothing wrong with the gun part but the combination is frightful). Monarch is almost finished with it's huge hotel and will give Ameristar a run for the money. You can still find some good VP in Ameristar but the bar in Monarch is a progressive that gets pretty good. It's triple play DDB - The last one was hit at $26,000, the one before that was $32 or 34,000. Not a bad place to stay for a couple of nights but nothing to do but gamble - not a great showplace at all. Some bands in the bars on the weekends is about it. I do have one issue with Monarch - they deleted my status once I turned platinum - No one would tell me anything until I pinned down a host - she said I played too good. Doesn't make sense to me - since I see the hosts visiting other VP players sitting at the same bar that I sit at. I never asked for anything, only minded my business and enjoyed the "free play" when I got it. Now they don't give me any free play. I started to boycott the place but my spouse likes it and he still gets his benefits. On your way to Black Hawk you will pass a "pot shop" and If you travel up to the Central City area you will find 4 "pot shops" within a one block radius. Casino outdoor smoking areas smell like pot, although it's illegal to smoke in public, they do.
