So I rounded up on that expert category.  Big deal. Would you have had me show ZERO? Not even count MA?

[QUOTE=Eduardo]I wonder what percentage of blackjack players in the casino are:

1) Consider themselves experts   are - 1%  consider - 99% Unfortunately, the nons make a habit of telling the ares how to play. And THAT my friend, is how you tell.  If you ever need to ask advice, do not do so until you have observed the other players for a while.  The ones who make the right plays you know about, ALL the time and aren't preaching to the others at the table...that's the one you should bet on.  You won't always find a knowledgeable player with that approach, but you'll be right more often than not.  Most of the time you won't find one at a low limit table though and not very often at the higher limits.

You put an idea in my head. If you don't want to or can't (me) count and play simultaneously just go identify a great player and sort of follow his lead.  Mike, how do players earn BJ comps? I almost never see anyone present a players card.

You can earn comps at Blackjack.  But not very much at a nickel level.  You pretty much need to be playing at the quarter level to get the casinos to pay any attention to you.  But yes, you do just give them your players card and that will "rate" you.  They'll watch you for a while and make notes as to what you bought in for, what your average bet is and how long you play.  They note rebuys as well.  So, if you are playing nickels and have asked to be "rated", make sure that you keep sort of an eye on the suits and when they are watching, double your bet.  If' you've been winning, rathole green chips and when you need more reds, rebuy with cash instead of pulling out the ratholed chips.

Mike, when they rate table players, they often judge by denom and amount of bet don't they? How do 21 players stack up to say craps or roulette? Are comp points racked up the same if the denoms are similar or do they also rate according to which game carries a higher house advantage? I ask this cuz I rarely sit at the tables anymore. I do like marathon Pai Gow sessions though!

I'm just guessing ED.  But I would think that for a given amount of time, a Craps player would have more "coin thru" at the same denomination as that same player on a Blackjack table consequently, would earn more comp points per hour.  But that is a guess.  And compared to a slot machine's "coin through", would still be much less that that slot player who wagered as much because, as you state, the house take is less on Craps than Slots. On the other hand, I am sure that on Pai Gow and Texas Shootout and Three Card Poker and Let it Ride, the comp rate is probably much higher than BJ and Craps and Baccarat because of that house edge.

I might have figured craps, blackjack and baccarat wouldn't get the same as other table games but as you stated, you're only guessing. Any former pit bosses out there? Even though the house edge is higher on PaiGow, it moves real slow so the take isn't as high as the house thinks, also it's easy to push. Low denom slots, roulette, let it ride and big 6 wheel should get good comp ratings.

I visited with a pit boss and he shared that you have to make sure right away to get your card information to the pit so that comps can begin. A smart way to do it is to play a little bigger at first and then back down after a couple of hands especially if things are going bad.

Thanks Wilcox, I don't know anyone connected to the casino business to ask such questions and the card kiosk people are hesitant to answer such questions.
