Penny Slots

I have played a few penny slots when I could not find decent pay video poker.  I would put in a twenty and it seems lately I have been very lucky with it getting to forty or fifty dollars before I cash out.  My son hit a $1,000 on one. So I am always shocked how they seem to pay fairly well.

Just today, I saw a woman at Empire City win 41,000 on a Hot Shots penny slot!

Boops, 41000 pennies or 41000 dollars?

Either one would be a nice return if the initial bet was twenty!

Of course they pay well when you're there at the right time, but slots are pretty much always lower payouts than video poker machines, even with  a bad pay table, aren't they? That's been my impression from discussions here, but I know that it's also harder or impossible to  know the actual payout in most cases with slots?

that hot penny machine would have been $41,000 as ours is around $44,000 here.  Lots of money for a single dollar  bet!

You're correct! unfortunately, the house has the advantage with slots but right place, right time and BAM! You could be a millionaire like that older fella at Sunset Station. He got a nice multi-million retirement package from IGT.

Edc you are right if you are there at the right time and play the right amount in a slot machine you can win big.

My experience is I can play a long, long time on video poker before running out of money.  That is not the case with slots.  I figured my luck on penny slots was just sitting down at the right time and getting lucky.

I was playing video poker one evening and got up to check on wife. So I left the machine that had a decent pay table--only one that was 9-6 JOB that I had found for a quarter.  When I came back it was taken so I watched a lady play a penny slot game for quite some time feeding it and feeding it.  Finally she got up and left.  I sat down with a twenty and hit a bonus game on first play.  Ended up winning another twenty so I got up and left the machine.  I figured double your money on that type of machine is good news.

Got double lucky as the video poker machine was open again and I played for quite some time on that new twenty before cashing in up about $10.

My wife plays nothing but slots.  She hit two bonus rounds within a couple of hours on two different machines...one for $290 and another for over $400.  But even on penny slots, you have to risk quite a bit of coin to finally hit one of the machines at that right time and place.  She loves the adventure.  Me, well, gimme good VP or Blackjack.  Might not win as much in one spin or deal, but you at least have some control over your destiny by employing skill you've committed to developing!

Mike, once again you're correct! Scary thing about penny slots is sometimes, you hit max bet and it'll end up costing you between 3 -5 bucks. I once saw a 30 line game with max coins per line being 20 coins. 20 pennies is harmless til you do the math, thats 6 bucks per spin! OUCH! I'll stick to VP that I have more control over and use the slots as a casual VP break! P.S. My casino partner as well as my wife loves to play slots. Can't figure out this VP thing and don't care to. I tell them to get a players card to get something in return!
