Craps - Who else plays and what is your strategy?

Post by Miller77 »

Hey all, Just wondering who else plays craps as their 'go-to' game when VP is not going so well. It is mine, and I usally play $5 on the pass line, with full odds and then 2 come bets with full odds. Odds working on the come out roll. What are your methods? CM

I like craps, but I would not call it my go to game.I am familiar with the betting strategy that you are using.  I saw this strategy mentioned in one of the books that I read on bettering strategies for craps.Usually I start with place bets, after the point has been established.  I focus on the numbers 5, 6, and 8.  And I place a bet in the field.  There are two reasons that I do this.  First, I will win money on any number thrown, except 7.  Second, in order to win on a come bet with odds, the number has to hit twice before the 7 comes up, where as with a field bet, the number only has to hit once for me to make a profit. After the first point is made, I stop making additional bets, beyond a small line bet with 2x odds.  The reason that I do this, is that so few players make two points in a row. After the 2nd point is made, I will increase my pass line bet, and either press my place bets, or start making come bets.On a “cold” table, I like to bet several place bets, and offset this with a similar sized don”t pass bet.  If the 7 comes up right away, I come close to break even, and if the place bets hit first, then I make some money.  I read about this strategy in a book by John Patrick, who has controversial views on how to play craps.  The problem with this strategy is that other players seem to resent it, making me feel unwelcome at the table.I think that betting the hard ways is a sucker’s bet.  But there are two times when I will bet them.  One is when I want to get the dealers in the game, I will make a bet for them on the hard ways.  The other time I bet the hard ways is when the shooter is setting the dice, and successfully throwing more hard ways than normally would happen. One the come out roll, if the shooter throws two sevens, then I might make a lay bet on the 4 or 10.  Then I would take this down, once the point is established.Another bet that I would not normally make is the “fire” bet.  However, if the table is “hot”, I will risk a dollar on this bet.Usually I do not play the one roll bets, however, if I see a pattern of a player throwing two craps in a row, then I will sometimes give this a try.  Or I will make a field bet.

I do the exact same thing except I keep odds not working on come out. And occasionally will throw a 2-way parlay on hard 6 or 8 for the dealers.  Got lucky a couple times doing that and then I'm the dealers favorite player until I leave.

When I dabble on craps, I bet the pass line on the come-out roll, full odds on the number (which is the only true odds bet in the casino, with no house edge), and then place a six and eight number bet, letting it ride once before raking (assuming no seven out).
