I was pleasantly surprised to find Big Split at Harrahs St. Louis. It was a multiple game machine and it is just so fun. It was on this poker site for awhile, but I see it has disappeared. I like the challenge of putting the right hands together to get the best win. I haven't played the card game Pai Gow, but I believe it is like that. Any chance of bringing it back here?

Not until the end of the year, and only if the gaming group approves it. I am looking forward to the change because I think Harrah's is upside down on some of their properties. They bought so many, so quickly and its been pretty much downhill, at least for me. You know, I have been playing vp since the 70's, and as one opinion, which I may get clobbered for, but they just don't pay like they used to. I don't need mathematical equations and all the technical knowledge I do not understand. All I know is that the machines don't pay out like they used to. I enjoy reading your comments. Is that because the paytables were better in "the good old days", or is the suggestion that today's machines don't really play fairly? Quite frankly, I think at least some of this fondness for the "good old days" is due to selective memory.  We tend to remember and focus on the really good sessions we had, while the drubbings we took are long forgotten.

OH NO. YOU DIDN'T!! The good old days were just that!!  Plus more. I will put my memory up against yours anytime. Any trips that I made to Vegas or Laughlin for 30 years,(ALMOST EVERY WEEK), brought at least one or two royals, almost every time, bucko! I NEVER said the machines weren't fair, just that they do not pay out like they used to. PERIOD. I started playing at the Maxim, in LV. They were not the multi-play like today, just 5 coins in and the payouts into the trough. I am sure you are too young to remember how crowded the Showboat was, any day of the week. Any full house was 45 coins back, straights were 20, and a flush was 30 until the Bonus machines started coming in. Everywhere! if the paybacks were not that, you LEFT!  If you don't remember that you, I'd check YOUR memory. Run a trivia game on video poker, and I will clean your clock! Run a trivia game on anything from 1960 on, and I will show you who has "selective memory". I don't TEND to focus on any sessions, good or bad, just that they are different. What about that is so difficult to understand. I usually don't get upset on this forum, but MAN, you ticked me off, and its not good to tick off an old person. Especially this one!! Try me on the trivia..I dare you! The casinos I started with are now dirt, or new casinos that DO NOT PAY OFF LIKE THEY DID!

I wasn't trying to tick you off.   If you're saying that, overall, the paytables were superior back then - that's fine. But if you're saying the paytables today are the same, but the machines are not paying out as much - well that's a difficult concept to swallow - particulary when you are not, apparently, suggesting they're not fair.  

I simply stated that back where you could only gamble in Nevada or Atlantic City, 99% of the payoff where 4000- RF; 250 -St.Flush, 125 - 4OAK; 45 fullhouse; 30 flush and 25 for a straight, then dropped quickly to 20; etc . The payouts may differ now, but the amount of hands that are payable are different. When I get my hand dealt out and it looks like 6..8.4.2.9 before the draw, but deals these type of hands over and over, that to me is not paying off. The rareity of hands that are payable are different. This is from experience, year after year of experience. After awhile, you tend to catch on. It just isn't the same..doo-da,doo-da.  

thats right........being dealt even a 3oak is a rarity  compared to the 80s and 90s
