Keno Strategies

Post by mdmick67 »

My wife is the Keno player and I have always been the VP player in the family. She loves to pick certain groups of numbers and sit at a machine for hours playing the game. Over the years she has done real good. She usually plays 8 hits at max bet of 8 coins and has hit many hand pays at 7 out of  8 and a few 8 out of 8. She keeps telling me that I need to try it for awhile just as a alternative to VP.
I recently pulled up some of the Keno Games here on the site and started to experiment with some different groups of numbers and have managed to hit a few good payout. So off to the web to see what kind of magic others might be using to win at Keno
I found a interesting article on winning at Keno posted by Richard Reed the owner of Insider Viewpoint of Las Vegas. You can check it out on the bottom of his home page (Gambling System Reviewed) I would like to hear your comments on this and or any other secret winning strategies that you might be using to win.

There's a tool for determining the return of any Keno game online.

As for strategies ... the only one that seems to work is called pure luck.

Shadowman, thanks for the Analysiser... You are right about pure luck, unlike VP where you have better control of the out come. Keno is just a step above the slot machines, at least in Keno a person gets to pick a set of numbers before the button is pushed. That being said I still plan on giving the Keno machines a work out just to test my luck and say to the wife ok I gave it a good try lol.

Did you get a chance to to look at the article link removed
 that Richard Reed posted?
I also went to web site link removed and
looked at all the W2G's that this guy posted. WOW!
At my age I'm way past all the smoke and mirrors and I sure don't need to buy any snake oil to change my luck. But I must admit that I sure found all the above information a interesting read.

If you can find the time I would love to hear your take on the Richard Reed article and the win at keno web site.Linking to those sites is not currently allowed. Contact us if you have questions. -Webman

The question gets down to randomness. If the machines are truly random there is no betting system that can affect the return. Hence, for a system to work like you mentioned it must be taking advantage of some non-random aspect of the machine.

Personally, I doubt it very much. It is not hard to program randomness. There is no benefit for the manufacturer to build a non-random machine. The machine software is reviewed by the NGC and tested to make sure it complies with the randomness requirements.

The only other possibility is a bug in the software that is being exploited. There have been instances of this type of thing occurring but they are usually found and fixed when word gets out. And, the idea that he would come up with an "enhancement" as claimed sounds fishy when it can only be based on some kind of programming problem. Sounds like a come on of a typical scam.

I know I wouldn't pay $99 for what is most likely a scam.

Thanks for your take Shadowman..... NOT ABOUT TO PAY $99 unless someone can prove to me that his so called system really works.

I sure would like to hear from other people as to how they love to play Keno and the seceret stratages that they use to win. I don't think that I can change my wife's mind about playing the game, she perfers it over VP, says that you don't have to think about every play that one makes. Anyways she never leaves that much to the casino and her big hits at times just adds to the fun of having a good thime

In the mean time back to VP where I know that I can win!

I generally concur with what Shadowman said. There are places with Keno progressives (Palms comes to mind). Using the wizardofodds.com site or the site posted by SM, it is possible to use simple algebra to determine when the Keno progressive pays as much or more than any video poker machine in the house. Probably you should play it lower than that. Keno players likely get better comps than strictly video poker players. Bob

Bob, Thanks for your input... I know that there has to be a better way to improve the odds when playing Keno and yes any progressives would defiantly help.
I had always thought that the game of Keno was just a total waste of money compared to playing video poker. But after already doing some research on the subject I'm finding it to be close to equal, possibly better when you add in the comps.

Yes almost all the casino's that I play at pay better comps as compared to video poker.

This guy beat Keno once but he and his pal got too greedy so they wound up in jail and banned from every casino on the planet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Dale_Harris

There is no "system" secret or otherwise that can turn a negative expectation game in to a positive expectation game. using past results to pick numbers is no different from any other way of picking numbers. In NV they are all equally likely. The GCB sees to this.  The only way of getting an advantage in keno is by playing progressives that get high enough,, taking advantage of any promos that might give the player an edge, tournaments where the prize money expectation added to the regular win expectation puts your expected value over 100%, comps, offers, and mailers that are worth more than your theoretical losses, and the rare situation where the casino has established a  pay book value for a particular ticket where the player has an edge. (almost unheard of now that PC's are usually checked by computer) Some also place value on the slow and relaxing sped of the game in comfortable lounge surroundings where other players will not bother you with superstitious and other nonsense such as touching the dice when they are in the air or taking the dealer's bust card and the like.  Do not pay money for a "system" that claims to turn the advantage to the player based on numerology, past performance, trends, clusters etc., it has no basis in fact. Do learn how to figure the odds, figure out "ways", and give yourself your best chance to get lucky. What I mean by that is do not expect to hit a 15 out of 15, it has never been done, but people do hit 8 of 8 and even rarely 9 of 9 and very rarely 10 of 10.  Play in tournaments where you get free or discounted rooms, meals, and prize money added in. This way you can get ahead in keno.

Today's Gaming Today Column shows how to use 20 card keno to play similar to a 4-2-1-1-1-1 way ticket playing the 7's and up. Go to the Gaming Today website, then games, then Keno  ....This can be a lot of fun as if u group your numbers and the basic groups come in (for example the group of 4) you are likely to get a few hots elsewhere as well and have a nice payday.
