Do casino track how much you loose

Post by susuvp »

I am a newbie, just learning how to play video poker for about 2 months. I try to read all the post but it will take me many days before i can :) finish the whole forum. I know the casino has to trach how much you coin in, to pay you point ( like how many point you get after how much coin in for playing ) . You play and you win some and loose some, guess loose more than win most of the time. Do the casino track how much you win and loose during each section you play at the casino when you use your player card too?

Yes they track win-loss,coin-in coin-out, session points, play habits, and many other factors about your play.
Why? The answer is,THE CASINO IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!!
Every aspect of their "plan" is designed to take your money!!

You said you are "just learning". That's good. Learn bad games from good.Learn to play 100% accurate to each game strategy.Learn money-management.Learn not to chase losses (not from me of course)

But most of all have fun.

Read current gamblingwithanedge.com Bob Dancer articles where he talks about it being much harder to make a profit today from video poker. You actually make money from the promotions, not by just playing the negative return video poker machines.

The longer you play a negative return machine, the more you lose. The bigger your bet on the same machine, the more you lose over time. The return on a game with perfect play is what the machine will return over time for the casino. That does not mean you will see those exact results playing the very small number of hands you will play compared to all the people that have played on that machine.

The math works. If it didn't, casinos would be posting loses month after month instead of millions made from gamblers.

If people are making money playing video poker, do not expect the play to be posted on the internet. If it is, then the play will be removed by a smart casino.

Mostly great advice W4RF .
But i think you meant the return on a game with perfect play is what the machine will return over time for THE PLAYER, but i have been wrong before. ;)

"The return on a game with perfect play is what the machine will return over time for the casino."

I did mean for the casino. The machine is being played by many players who total many millions of hands. Also, all of those players do not play perfectly so the casino effectively pays out less than the perfect play return.

I have talked to people in the know over the years at both Ct casinos. On the 99 percent machines they make about 5 percent due to player errors and poor machine maintenance. On 96 percent machines, they make about 9 percent or a bit more. There are many of those. It is public record in Ct how much is returned to patrons. Video Poker is just considered a slot and about 91 percent is returned to the patrons. Neither Ct casino is happy about the 95 percent return on nearly full pay games and yes in general, they do not like video poker players. Not as a person, but as a player. They tend to have more money than regular slot players and play long hours waiting for those big hands. Also they tend to quit and stop playing after a big hit unlike regular slot players.

PS..... I know first hand from seeing my comp rooms and free play dry up or diminish because I play inly VP. I run 2 million a year through the machines and cannot even get a comp weekend room anymore at either casino.

Continued envy over your marathon sessions, Olds! Can't wait to hit $3,000 coin in. Of course, I'd probably have a -$300+ fiasco on my hands.

Hopefully not. I know the more you play the more you lose but not the odds but the probability of hitting something big increases the longer you play simply due to the large number of hands played. Not Royals, but many of the bigger hands like quad deuces on deuces wild only come along in the long run every 5,000 hands or so. Tge trick is finding a way to play to keep you peddling while waiting for that nice hand. One can turn grey waiting for a Royal, but in my case bald and grey!
