Re: Match Card Bonus Game

Hop, on these games, if you were supposed to get a full house and were dealt a full house, you could toss the pair and be assured of drawing back another pair to get the predetermined full house. In fact you could have tossed the trips from the original dealt full house and you would have "amazingly" drew another three of a kind to make sure that you got the predetermined hand.

The "magic" happens when you toss cards such that it is impossible for you to receive the predetermined hand. Let's say you were dealt AAAA2 on a Double Double Bonus game. The game expects you to hold all 5 cards to receive 2000 credits. But what if you toss 4 cards and keep an Ace?

It is then impossible for you to get quad aces with a kicker without a little magic. In the game you found, you might draw quad 3s to go along with the held ace for 800 credits and then get a matching bonus card that is worth the missing 1200 credits.

Or in some Class 2 games, a genie will appear after the drawn cards, wave a magic wand and transform your drawn cards back into the aces that they started with.

it was a bit disconcerting to watch how poor he was at selecting cards to hold!
How does this video poker work if the result is predetermined? Does the card holding still matter at all?
No it doesn't. The match card will take care of it if you hold unexpected cards. It's possible he did too if he had a 2 card suited hold. The match card gave him 4750 credits, the difference between the straight flush and royal flush. When he hit the deal button, he was lucky enough to receive the 5000 credit pull tab.

Here's another example of a more modern class II video poker game. The stud hands can take care of the payout differences from people holding different cards.
