Using Casino T Shirts to make face masks

Post by BobDancer »

Many of us who have been going to casinos for a long time have far more logo T Shirts than we are ever going to wear.

Today a video was posted on Good Morning America about making clean T Shirts into face masks. The only tool it requires is a pair of scissors.

I don't have a link, but if you Google or Bing "Have a Clean T Shirt to Spare?", I'm sure you'll find it.

I, for one, will be making a supply.

Single ply cotton t-shirt masks may capture 50%-60% of .02 micron particles. 35%-45% less effective than an N95 mask. Face seal is quite a bit lower on home made masks and more so if a person has a beard.

But if it makes a person feel more comfortable then do it. I personally will stick to social distancing, hand washing and just plain being smart. You cannot let your guard down with this virus at all.

I agree social distancing is the best way to go. I make face masks and will wear them when going to get essentials as a double measure of safe guarding myself. Living in a Senior community I want to make sure that I am doing my best to keep not only my husband but all our residents safe. I pray that things will settle down soon and my prayers go out to everyone . BE SAFE MY VP FRIENDS

I am staying home but am keeping my distance when I have to go out. Wearing a mask may not stop you from getting the virus but if there is a slight chance that it will help, I say wear one.

Surgical masks protect the patient from the surgeon. Similarly, wearing a mask in public will help to protect others from you in the event that you have the virus and dont know it yet.

Wearing these items could provide a small amount of protection for those wearing them, but without the proper training, most civilians end up touching their face while wearing gloves, thereby rendering them useless and in a similar way, they end up touching and adjusting their masks far too often.

The worst problem is a false sense of security which causes some wearers to be less careful about physical distancing.
