Is this the right calculation?

Post by wildman49 »

So If I have a promotion that is a one day event. Meaning at 8am you start building entrees for drawings that start at 5p every half hour to 10p for $500 cash one person. I play 9/6 JOB 99.54% payback. I play 1000 hands an hour from 8a to 5p @ $5.00 a hand. After nine hours 45k thru the machine. That's $207 lost on the 45k on perfect play. Plus we get $1 per 1000 points convert to free play. So $45 for points, $500 for draw, less JOB loss is $338 div by 9 hours of play is $37.55 an hour right?

You're not guaranteed to win the $500, are you?

The calculation seems correct. You are assuming your name will be called for the drawing and you get a partial royal flush.

I would call it a guarantee draw, I know about how many entrees it takes and have been drawn many, many times and many on the first draw. Just never sat down to understand how to rate a promo in take per hour.

I would divide my annual winnings by the amount of hours spent chasing them.
If in the course of the year, you played 2000 hours and won $1000 dollars, it's worth fifty cents an hour.
If you won $10,000 it's worth five dollars an hour.
That seems to be a fair and realistic way to do it.

Long day's journey into night. And if the result is -$207, you have already won! What kind of BR are we talking about, btw?

Can you win more than once?

It not, you're earning way more tickets than you need. If $45K "guarantees" you a win, likely $30K will win quite often too. And you will lose $54 less (including 99.54% game plus 0.1% slot club) playing $15 less. You don't need to win every time to make playing less a better play.

This sounds like a regular promotion for you --- so you be doing better by playing less.

Another thing you didn't mention is: are there any mailers? They don't send you $50 a week (or whatever) out of the blue. It's based on your play. If most of your play is during this promotion, then you should include this in your calculation.

Thank you for your response Bob.

No can't win more then once. But the one promo last month did have a last draw for 5k I just could not pull it as even if you get the $500 free play draw you was in the grand draw at 11p for 5k. Maybe I needed to play bigger on the 10 times entree day to pull the draw.

Last Friday was drawn the first week I tried this promo at 5p the very first draw of the day. Like you I thought I might be over playing. The second week I did not want to do less entrees in fact I did a few more and did not get the draw yesterday. The first draw is a 5p and the second week I could tell there was a whole lot more people in the casino then the week before. I felt I might be in trouble. Nothing wrong with not getting drawn but I do like guarantee draws. Aug. I was 5 out of 6 in draws. This month 3 for 4 on the $500 draws. I need to play for monthly free play average so over playing is not so much a big deal. I am not topped out on weekly free play as of yet. I play to a point total that I know gets me x amount of free play.

In any event yes there is weekly free play that is above the promotion itself.
