I’m positive EV after 5 years. It shouldn’t be possible?

though the experts will say it is just coincidence, watch for a really good hand shortly after an extremely long dud streak. I mean like 30 consecutive or more dud hands not counting pushes. All of my largest jackpots have come within seconds or just a few minutes of a horrible dud streak including the two I had for $18,000 in the same day.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The extremely long dud streak just fried my will on Saturday. Fifty cent BP, because their JOB requires ten coins. Before I knew it -$80! I bailed out and switched machines to get a good chunk of it back. JOB on a budget worked better that I could have imagined. Two quads came rather quickly. If I had a baseball bat that first machine would have been history. It killed my desire to hit the Marina Harrah's, as I usually do. Conclusion: VP "masters" have nerves of steel and teddific loss tolerance. It just spooked me excessively in light of my recent history. I didn't want to accept another negative three digit trip on my ledger. But I can't let a horrible half hour spoil my whole day, either.

I hear you. I am in the midst of my longest cold streak ever. No hand pays not even that many chances where I need just one card. Had dinner last night with the Mrs and another vp couple in the lounge. They are big players. The husband had hit a Royal on 9/6 JOB and the wife had hit one on DDB with a ten buck just before dinner. The ATM slips were making my wallet too thick so I had to elastic band them over the last few months. Forced to slow down. Second half of House taxes are due next month. If all I find under my tree this year is coal, I hope we all at least can avoid the virus. Casinos everywhere are on a very short leash I think and may follow various Governor orders.

That reminds me of the week where I was surrounded by hand pays at Harrah's; it still rankles me also. Speaking of food, I shall enjoy an upscale AC happy hour this weekend. Hopefully, I will be in a happy mood by 4 PM. I may even resort to killing time doing the tourist thing, then patronize the library. I plan to shun the machine that vacuumed my wallet last week and promptly take the welcoming machine that reimbursed me. Maybe that is all the tweaking I need. I just cashed in on fall market profits and socked it away in a safe if sleepy savings account. All it takes is one lucky hand to brighten my year.

You are NOT referring to the local ATM, are you?

This is for the VP "masters" and teddific cracks.

Ideally, I will have a quad or two worth of wins in my possession by then and while away a few hours. I really strive to conjure elaborate plans to avoid playing thousands of hands. You stay, you pay. Definitely avoiding any more AC ATM use, money flushed via poor planning. It's been such a good investment month that I may actually be robustly bankrolled this time. Aim to have last 2020 laugh.

A serious question- If you knew five years ago that thousands of hours of playing VP would result in ou not seeing a cent of profit, would you do it anyway?
Absolutely. I view VP as entertainment and sometimes as therapeutic. I factor in its cost much as I would any other recreational activity. Any profit is a bonus. Different strokes for different folks.

Same. I love to win, but I plan to lose.

If I wanted guaranteed profits, I'd stay out of a casino and work a job. Some view VP like a job. Good for them, but that's just a very different way of looking at it than most people. I play when I'm on vacation... the last thing I want on vacation is another job. ;)

I really can understand your point of view. Playing for the fun of it is a great stress reliever.

I only want to play to make a profit. I do get sucked into rec play with the wife but play small when I play. Playing for profit is very much a J-O-B. I do enjoy doing it, but it's a grind very much like a job playing 8-10 hours a day for entrees. While there is no guaranteed profits in what I do, if you understand the math of the game your playing. Know the players club free play and goodies. As well as how many entrees it takes to get a draw, there is much rewards in the game to enjoy.

I can teach anyone how to make money, but once they sit side by side with me and see what it takes to make a profit, they would bail since it's much harder to grind it out then play for fun.

The main problem with gambling as a job is u can go for long periods with a sure math advantage and not only not get a pay check, but losing tens of thousands of dollars . also no medical , dental or eyeglass plan ! last I checked .
