Actually, I think the story goes that they sneak food out of a hotel breakfast set-up, while not actually a registered guest of that hotel. . . . and call it an AP moment.

Been there, done that, well maybe for a half hour or so. Shopping at the same time however. Who among us will not do this......You are at Cosco, a really delicious batch of samples has just been taken out of the oven. One is 25 percent bigger than the other ones. Assuming you aren’t going to let a beautiful lady go in front of you, who will not take the biggest one?

Does anyone remember the Rapid 5-Way progressives? There used to be one (in the early ‘90’s at Caesar’s Palace). It had progressives on straights, flushes, full houses, 4OAK’s and either SF or RF. That was a game worth waiting for. If you were dealt a Full House, for example—you might sit on it for 15-20 minutes and see the credits increase from 40 to 60 (of course, the risk was that someone else got the Full House and it reverted to the original amount) A couple of times I got dealt a 4OAK and waited for a juicier payout. It was a FUN game. Even saw it in Monte Carlo once at the main casino; there (on a higher denomination game), I drew to a 4OAK, which was about double the normal size—there was no pressure, because I was the only player on the bank of 5 machines.

No, but tell me more please. How did they structure the game to fund the progressives?

I recall a Jacks or Better game at Frontier with fast moving progressives, but I think it was a 6-coin bet with 5-coin payouts. The extra coin funded the progressives.

I wish I could remember what the structure was. It’s possible that there was a 6th coin, but I’m not sure—-it may be that they shorted other hands to finance the progressive. I would be curious if anyone else remembers this game.

I'm thinking it may have been tough for a 5-way progressive to go massively positive because inevitably when one or two meters are up big, the others are down near reset. It would have been a challenging game to prep for with so many different strategy scenarios.

It's hard to find fast meters today. I think the highest I've seen lately is about 1.5% total. The honoree of this thread was responsible for fast meters at M Resort, but it's been almost ten years now:

Vpfree2 indicates the experiment lasted about 10 weeks or so. Initially the base games were about 96.5% with 4% royal meters.

Then they were downgraded to 95% with 3.2% meters, multipliers excluded.

And finally the games were dismantled.

Not the same. At Costco, members are "invited guests." It can be considered a member benefit to eat the "free samples" on offer. (sadly, no more, with the virus).
Swiping food off a hotel "free breakfast" when you are not a hotel guest is just low-class, even if it's "just a banana."

Used to love the breakfast buffets at Mohegan Sun. A certain culture was probe to taking the entire bunch of bananas not just one. And they weren’t poor believe me. Some would line their large purses with plastic and fill them with the higher end stuff.

Olds, your experience at Mohegan Sun is mild compared to what I used to see in Vegas. Buffet goers would bring small plastic containers and fill them up.
At the M buffet, there were a couple of folks we'd regularly see who brought in tote bags stuffed with empty containers/zipper bags. They'd take prime rib slices, bread, veggies, everything needed for another meal at home. Ridiculous.

FYI, they were giving out a limited number of samples at Costco when I was there this afternoon. No way was I going to try any.
