From AP to Recreational over night

Post by wildman49 »

One never knows when things are going to change for the worst but all good things come to an end sooner or later. When you have a casino giving to much away in comp packages and very good promotions, players will take advantage in any way they can.

Things started to happen about a month ago. We heard slot players getting slapped with a lifetime ban. I was told by my host the slot players would look for machines with must hit pots on them. Say it must hit by 5k. Smart players would wait till it was near that number then pump the machine till it hit. Make a profit plus the free play it will bring from players club in months to come. They then would not play until they found another machine with high pots. Another player found a flaw in a machine called Ocean Magic. He would play min. bet till he seen something come up in the first reel, then max bet and was cleaning out the machine and got the ban.

A few weeks ago they started on VP players that was camping out on one bank of machines. When I say camping out I mean 6 to 10 hours at a time. Some longer and always there hogging up the machines during drawings. Other players wanting to play the machine bitching up a storm. Many on the bank playing DDB with a 99.96% pay back. The next thing I hear is 8 players some I knew all got lifetime ban.

So Friday I hit the casino for play and drawings. Only to see these small stickers near the card slot. These stickers are on every poker machine in the building. I run into another player I know who just got there and played a small amount of multi hand poker. I pointed out the sticker to him and he said he did not see that. He said as he was playing he was not getting many points. As you can guess it was 1 point per $1 on VP was changed to 1 point per $10 played. That ends any and all advantage on VP. For me to keep my current comp package I have I would have to put 10 times the play on I currently do.

So now I have this problem of trying to play what free play I might have coming to me on slots. I have no clue don't play slots so am in the dark here. Unless they are also taking away the 3 month average from us I should have free play for several months to come.

It was a hell of a run for about 4 years I did very well. Here in Mid Michigan I have to drive long distance from 45 min drive one way to 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get to a casino. So AP looks to be out unless a year or two out things change where I currently play. It's back to Recreational play for now.

Welcome to my world. $50 for one TC on quarter full pays, $20 on dollar full pays. Fun, fun, fun. Hey, when the slots hit, they really hit. This could well be a blessing in disguise!

Wildman, You had a good thing going there while it lasted. I recently had $100 freeplay only on slots at a casino. I decided more plays were better than less plays. The best slot I played for 30 cents a push was QUICK HITS PLATINUM. I played a couple others but was over 100% on that slot machine. I do not play slots so I can't help beyond that.

Ocean Magic is one of many "variable state" slot titles. Typically some element of the game accumulates toward a temporary reward such as a wild reel. Slot hustlers roam the casino checking game statuses, and may ultimately be banned for doing so.
These stickers are on every poker machine in the building.

As you can guess it was 1 point per $1 on VP was changed to 1 point per $10 played.

If they're requiring $10 per point on all poker machines, I expect the situation is unsustainable and will be adjusted further because they're crushing reward value for their good regulars who play bad VP.

Now that they invested in the stickers lol, you may be stuck for awhile needing to play reels to redeem free play.

If best EV is the goal, I would pay attention to factors such as max bet restrictions. Below is a typical jackpot display. It's from regular Quick Hit, but Platinum is usually similar:

Notice the jackpots are all "with max bet" only. I would only play this game for max bet. Also of course EV will vary depending on the progressive jackpot amounts.

Those jackpots all pay off with less than max coins. With the exception of the top jackpot, it is all proportional.

Proportional in relation to the reset amount. For example, the bottom (5QH) jackpot (as pictured) is sitting at $18.11 starting from a $15 reset. I believe the potential payouts would go like this:

30 cent bet = $3 pay
60 cent = $6
90 cent = $9
$1.20 bet = $12
$1.50 bet = $18.11 (progressive)

You have to bet max to realize the enhanced value from the progressive.

The progressives can be configured on or off. If only the top tier jackpot is progressive, then presumably you could min-bet with less of a penalty.

Lucky for me I did some slot testing on Friday to see what might work for free play. The first few I tried was awful $10 in $2 out $20 in $5 out. I remember there was a small bank of penny machines the pays out on every spin. No dry spins. I did $10 free play and got $10 back, did another $10 got $6 back.

As luck would have it I got one of my last draws last night $1200 free play, ran it all on two of these machines cashed out $1100. So I now have a place to finish out my monthly free play that should last for 3 to 4 months out unless they changed that as well and or ban me like others.

The thing is all the casino needed to do is lower the pay tables like all the other casinos in the state have.
What they did now going to 10 for 1 instead of 1 for 1 in dollars in for points is hurting not just the few that had the advantage on poker. They hit all poker, keno and Video black jack players as well. I would say 300 players got hit with this drop. For every good VP player they had there was 10 bad VP,keno players they made money on. The machines will go empty if they don't wise up in the months to come. Maybe they just want to pull them for slots down the road.

Like today is hero card day for vets. Do 800 points get $10 bucks. Today the ones that play VP have to put $8000 coin in for $10 instead of $800 coin in just last week. Got to be the worst move a casino could make. They now lose players, there wives, profit on drinks, profit on people they gave extra concert tickets to to bring more people in. Plus the bad PR from players telling others about this.

I guess for now Wildman, you can just ride it out until the Roller Coaster breaks down. Ever think of playing an hour or so of 99 percent vp. It is just a guess, but I wonder on the days you cash out the slot free play, if you give them a nominal amount of normal vp business, they may not ban you. Just a guess however.
In light of my recent large jackpots at Mohegan on 99 percent machines, I gave them a day of 97 percent business yesterday on a DDS machine and ran about 20,000 through it. I just got lucky on it and bailed. Normally long term, they would have kept 600 bucks of that much coin in.
