There are several games I can think of where, if one of the two pair is aces, you would discard the other pair and draw to the pair of aces only.

And, in deuces wild games where four of a kind pays more than a full house, you should discard one of the pairs.

Exactly. And that becomes so frustrating when it is in a cycle where the full house never hits. I remember a session of airport deuces not that long ago which lasted several hours. Not once did the full house ever hit yet every time I kept the two pairs because that’s what the math and EV says to do. I guess that is why sometimes I enjoy bonus deuces wild more. I always get to discard one of the two pairs and keep the lower one in that game. The four of a kind pays for for one and the full house pays three for one When I can find that paint table that I like which is just under 99% I almost always give it a shot. That pay table is getting very hard to find though.

Cycle, schmycle. YOU, the player, stops the cards from shuffling. So YOU, the player, is the one that isn't hitting the full house. Not the game.

Um in my opinion, not really. It may be true that: YOU, the player, stops the cards from shuffling but, a BIG BUT, the player (and this is the kinda sorta important part) has no idea what the cards are when the shuffle is stopped.

Or am I wrong in thinking that way?

Sounds right to me.

It's kind of like when a guy complains that his wife is always nagging him, but he's the one that married her.

Okay, maybe not exactly like that. I'LL BE RIGHT THERE!

Take a standard deck of cards and lay out on a table 4, 4, 7, 7, J. Suits are irrelevant. Place the J to thre side. THOROUGHLY shuffle the remaining cards. Cut, then deal the top card. Do this a few hundred times. GUARANTEE you'll see the same stuff you do in a casino on a VP machine.
