Post by billryan »

You are dealt 4H, 4S, 3S,3D,AH

Keep the two pair or go for the quick quad?

Would it depend on the game? If I am playing my normal TDB then I am keeping: 4H, 4S, 3S (or 3D for that matter), and AH.

I seriously doubt the there's any quick quads game where you wouldn't toss one of the threes and go for the quick quad.

JoB seems to hold 2 pair. Other games 443A. Go to the WOO hand calculator.

Agreed! I was about to make an additional post saying that, but you beat me to it.

I used the 9/6 pay table. I didn't check where the full house pays 8, 7, or 6 though.

It has more to do with the pay for two pair than it does for the return on the full house. Bonus Poker QQ also calls for holding two pair.

But would that change for the "small pairs" (2's, 3's, 4's)? The WOO calculator says hold the 443A for 8/5 and 7/5 BP QQ

Correct. And good catch.

In 8/5 Bonus Poker QQ, on the hands 4433A and 3322A, specifically, it's correct to hold 443A and 332A respectively. In all other cases in this game, holding two pair is better than what I call in my writings as a Quick Trip, namely a pair and two other cards that add up to the rank of the pair --- such as 8853.

In games like DDB QQ, ALL Quick Trips are better than two pair.

I still maintain that this has more to do with the pay for two pair than the pay for full houses --- but, as Jstark posted, there are a few exceptions.

In DDB or TDB QQ, I would how many people sit and ponder when dealt 22AAx.
