That means it doesnt matter when you hit deal???? Boops, it only tells the machine when to quit shuffling the cards. So many different hand combinations possible, it would be impossible to know when to hit deal/draw. Just play for winning, thats all we can do.

From what IGT said, it works as described.  The deck is stacked from the time you hit deal, put in a coin or whatever stops the shuffle(different machines vary).  They do not mention a continious run after the initial draw.
 
And this is not the same as the older machines.  In the older machines the cards were under the initial deal.
 
So the cards are dealt and your draw cards are under that deal.  So throw away the first card and the card under it shows.  This is not the same as drawing from the top of the deck as you could skip the first 2 cards that already came off the deck.  This is not the way poker works.
 
The way poker works and the way the RNF on IGT machines work now is that the deck is frozen.  They claim to do this because it is more like "real life" poker. 
 
In real life poker you don't get 5 cards throw 3 away and then reshuffle the deck to draw your new 3 new cards?  You get the 3 that are on top of the deck.
 
 
Could you post a reference. It looks like this is about 10 years out of date.

ED-I only asked because I was sure that the cards kept shuffling-its a joke my husband and I share-oh honey if u didnt cough before hitting deal we would have gotten the royal! LOL

Also, in Linda Boyd's book, "The Video Poker Edge" she also interviewed IGT and discusses RNGs. I'm sure there are lots of other references that support the continuous running of the RNG.

Thanks for the reference to the article. Nice article and it helped my understanding. I have to tell you that our discussion impacted my play this past Monday/Tuesday. I caught myself trying to vary the hit times and even the speed button. I was laughing a lot at myself. Really cracked up when I was playing one hand on STP and held 2 Aces three hands in a row ( a sequence) and the third time hit AWAK!      Can't scientifically say the varied speed or timing made a difference but it was a more enjoyable evening and at times seemed to make the draw a more exciting wait period!

LL, I often vary the speed of my play as well. It makes no difference from a purely mathematical standpoint but it does give the allusion that we have some control over our results. If that helps make the game more enjoyable then it's a good thing.


 
In one situation I was dealt four for a SF on the last 5 credits I had. I waited a couple of seconds and told the machine it would be nice if I didn't have to insert another bill. The SF filled in for 250 credits and I never looked back on my to a $1100 win.
 
A humorous sidenote is the machines are not even IGT and I have idea how they operate.

I doubt any of the them are based on the understanding of the last 10 years. It takes awhile for this kind of information to spread and there was a lot of debate 7-8 years ago before everyone felt comfortable that the mechanism had changed. For example, I ran into a casino tech at the Sands in Reno who stated that the machines operated in the old parallel manner (draw cards behind the dealt cards). This was in 1999 when the machines had been using the sequential fixed 10 card method for at least 10 years.
 
As I stated previously, the fixed 10 card method is how the machines used to operate up until around 2000. BTW, this is all common knowledge among VP pros and experts.

But I am not speaking of the shadow cards.  Yes that method is old.

Are NEW VP machines Running on the Same RNG as the older VP MACHINES. Seems like i win more on the Older multi line machines
