Hi,
New Gold  member here.  Long time fan of the site.  Anyway, received an offer from the Flamingo for a VP tourney in Sept.  Anyone have experience playing in one of these?  Any info would be helpful.  Thanks

Hi baldie, Welcome to forum and your very first post! I have played in VP tournaments at Paris in Vegas, Sienna in Reno and several at MGM Detroit. Too bad I never won much. They are quite similar. On Aug 19, I will swipe my MGM players card at a kiosk after 11:00 AM. That will give me a ticket designating my seat assignment and game time and also put $25 free play on to my players card. At the first tournament they gave out a buffet. The tournament area is roped off and play is scheduled at 15 min intervals. The actual play is 6 min. and there is usually time to finish if playing at a steady pace. I can call the casino after 7:00 PM and find out if my card number is a winner. However, I already got the idea I would not place when I realized several contestants had scores considerably higher than mine. The winner will probably hit a royal or awaks so strategy is pretty much tossing insignificant hands and hoping for the best on the draw. LUCK is the major factor. Some casinos post a list of the winners. Some host a two day event. It's yet another event with which I have a love/hate relationship! I find them fun and would LOVE to win! GL and report back to us.

Thanks Marie,

Checked some of those sites and was able to pick up a few tips.
Heading for Vegas this weekend for a 2 day getaway...let you know if I did anything newsworthy.

I played at one in Horseshoe Southern Indiana.  It was fun.  It was set up with two sessions.  I did poorly in the first session.  But hit quads with kickers a couple of times and ended up in the money!  That made it even more fun.  Have a great time.
