When playing Deuces Wild Bonus, does it pay to keep a single Ace when that's all you have as you do in Double Double Bonus? That way, you don't close off the increased payout for Five Aces.

I don't think there are any standard pay schedules where it's ok to keep a lone ace, though it's sometimes ok (Double Bonus Deuces) to keep an A with two or three deuces.Keep in mind that you can still get Five Aces even if you discard one ace, since there would be 3 aces left along with the 4 deuces.

I play lots of multi-hand and the recommendation is to not hold the Ace like VP said.

I still have a hard time keeping Deuce + Ace on Dbl Bonus DW. But, I know that is the recommended strategy and sometimes it pays. I did it 10-15 times last night to no avail but caught 4 Deuces + Ace on one hand so it paid for doing it.

-judy, 5 OAK is the big payoff on the version of of Joker Poker called ACJOKER.  Therefore when you have nothing else and have a lone card 5 thru 10 hold the one closest to 10. The reason is that you have one of the cards for 5OAK.
As an aside , I have caught 5, 7s  once and 5,6s once in the Casino on this play.

faygo's right as always. But you might question why a 5-T instead of a 2-4,J-Q etc.  The answer is that you have a better chance to make a straight with a singleton 5-T than any other cards.  Each of those cards can participate in 5 different straights (E.g., a 7 can be involved in 76543, 87654, 98765, T9876, & JT987).  If you have a choice of several cards, you often want to pick the one that is the only one of a particular suit, so you have the best chance of making a flush as well.  (If this is a Kings or Better game, a K or A would be better since with one match it can be a paying hand, but if Two Pair is the lowest paying hand, singleton Kings and Aces aren't generally held.)Why is a card in your hand better than other ranks to get 5oak?  Well, it has a better chance than the next card that you will draw if you just discarded five cards because that 1st drawn card might match one of the ones that you threw away. But, don't get too excited; it's still a pretty bad hold, but it's just sometimes the best of all the bad choices that you have.

new2vp, I scurried back in from what I was doing to edit my post and  explain why 5-10 and see that you have quite eloquently explained it.

ACJoker is a game, to be sure, of bad choices.
