Tips to Slow Play?

I am trying to slow my play.  I'm at about 1000 hands an hour now and want to drop down to around 500.  For some reason this seems to be a hard thing for me to do.  I have started to turn the speed down on machines that allow adjustment.  I play mostly one line Deuces.  Any tips would be appreciated.

Phil,
If you're right-handed play left-handed. Hit the "Bet One" button 5 X to bet 5 after each hand. Drink two bottles of water every hour - this will help you later in the session.

Phil Take a bottle of water with you and have a sip every few hands. Then, you will make more frequent trips to the bathroom. The pauses that refresh will definitely cut down on the number of hands you play.

I like the left handed play idea.  I'm thinking about using the touch screen instead of the draw button.  At my age, I'm seeing way more of the casino bathroom than I would like...   Flirting with the waitress could be costly (I'm not that old yet).

You could complain out loud and bang the machine every time you don't connect on a draw. Conversely, every time you hit a 4-of-a-kind or better you could stand up and cheer! In some places you'd fit right in --- and this would definitely slow your play. Bob

Funny you would say that. The last time I was at the casino an older lady was sitting next to me.  Occasionally she would pound one of the buttons for about 10-20 times real fast before she drew the cards.  I watched her for a long time and I'm pretty sure she thought it would change her luck if she did that.   It's weird the antics some people will go through to get the cards to come up their way.  It didn't seem to be working for her that day...

I love Bob Dancers idea of banging the machine on bad draws and standing up and cheering when you hit.  At Harrahs in St Louis I saw a woman scream and keep screaming when she hit the royal on a progressive quarters.  She screamed so loud I could hear her two rows away.  When I left my machine to check whether someone was injured I found her standing up, screaming, the machine playing the royal jingle and all the other people playing looking downcast and quite unhappy.Seems you can't please everyone all the time.

The left handed playing is a great idea, in more way than one. When you use your non dominate hand, that forces you to use that side of the brain more which makes you smarter. So use your left hand when using training mode and take up a hobby like the piano!       Dave
