Its been a while since I have posted, I have a question.
I am heading to SOUTH POINT in vegas soon and they have the lobby bar that has no progressive but better paytables and island bar that has a progressive but lower paytable,which one is the better one to play? I usually play at lobby bar but never finish up for the trip, I do not move much and play around 2-4 hours at a time, thanks for any reply!

Id go for the better paytable without progressive, lowered risk of ruin. On average you will likely lose that extra money you get from the progressive playing quicker shorted paytables.

If you want the professional answer, evaluate if the the progressive pushes the game to a positive expectation return. Only play progressives under those circumstances. Then again you'd face competition against video poker teams vying for the same jackpot as you.

The few times I've been to south point, the royal hasn't been high enough to justify playing it. All the games are knocked down one unit, so you need a $1500 royal at quarters to make that up, and that's ignoring taxes. Also the progressive will really jack up variance. I probably wouldn't play it till it was closer to $1700+. Full pay bartops are definitely a wonderful thing. Also 8/5 Bonus w/STP at the island bar too!

We primarily play progressives with a lower paytable. However, the game is DDB and there are progressives on all premium hands except for the SF. The only lowered hands, are the full house and flush. Hitting even the 2,3,4 progressive usually more than makes up for the lowered paytables. However, regardless of paytables, results depend on luck assuming you are playing proper strategy.
